When you give him such a toilet car what do you expect.

When did qualifying count for anything?

So 10th to 2nd yesterday was luck, then? You're the one comparing him to Perez. Somehow.

And yes, I did watch every session this year, being a retired person!. These days, sometimes you are only as good as the equipment, and everyone has off days, including Russell!!. The driver is the pointy end of the team. If the team is suffering to set it up right, then the driver will struggle. I don't doubt Lewis's commitment for 1 second!.

1, being the indisputable GOAT(as much as I hate the phrase!), to match or better his team mate. Also he has won many a race in a 'toilet car' in his youth, including multiple wins in a car at times worse than any of the past 3 Mercs. This was a time when he could put a tractor on the front row/podium.

2, seriously did you really just ask that???

3, yesterday was a great drive indeed, but just one great drive in a year of largely underachieving/underperforming. As above, he would be expected to match/beat his team mate at least, this is not the case.
For starters, my exact words were 'turning into a Perez', as in he's going that way, not exactly that right now. So no I don't expect him to be qualifying 18th and crashing into those who may take his seat at every opportunity!
Out of interest, remind me who qualified 12th and climbed to 3rd and just shy of 2 seconds of the lead at Las Vegas last year...

So you've just proved my point that qualifying doesn't really count for much. ;)

Rose tinted glasses then.
Indeed everyone has off days, but the last few years Hamiltons seasons have been largely off weekends with the occasional stand out performance. Not sure why you needed to bring Russell into it when I've just said I don't rate him as a top driver?
And yes the driver is one of the most important tools of the trade, but as I've said above, there was once a Hamilton that could win in a car that was not set up well or to his taste. The results of the last 3 years support that is no longer the case.
And yes Hamilton may well be committed to the sport, but he is not committed to Mercedes, which will have arguably affected his results.
If I am right and Leclerc wipes the floor with him next year, do you honestly reckon he'll hang around? (Replace Perez  )

Really? Because it most likely cost him a win yesterday.

Lewis will drive the wheels off the Ferrari. If he doesn't do well, for whatever reason, I think he will quit at the end of next season.

Verstappen stripped of pole position, impeding Russell and driving too slowly.
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Amazing 'management' by the race director, in the words of Clint Eastwood a complete 'Cluster f--k' :Wow:

Wow…another FIA farce. A 10 second stop go (which is harsher than some penalties Max has/hasn’t been given for running drivers off the track) for not slowing ‘enough’ - Yet they let the cars race for a few laps with some debris there. Mental!

Sadly, I became so disinterested in it that I wizzed through it at 12x recorded speed. :)

I imagine that made the racing much more interesting at that speed! :D

Ocon will not see the season out, replaced by Doohan for Abu Dhabi.

It's a pity Verstappen is such a hypocrite saying he's lost respect for Russell after he got him a penalty, then calling his team up to point out Norris seemingly did not lift for a yellow flag...🤷‍♂️

Rumours abound that Perez will 'no longer be driving for the team' after the next race. It will be interesting to see how Tsunoda does in the post race test..
