Re: Exercise Ramstein Flag 30/9 to 11/10/24
Thanks for the log
Was thinking of binning it off but I need 12 plus two F-4E that were noted so just about worth it as the flight is probably nonrefundable
No guarantee the 8/10 will see the same array of aircraft though
( At Andravida in April for Iniochos I made 32 including Saudi and Qatar Typhoons )

Clarification on the "no photo order" around the Gripens from Scramble -
"The "order" to put the cameras down was released when the USAF F-35 declared the emergency, but it was still 30 min away from the airport. When the local security realized that it was not coming in shortly, they recall the photo restriction. When the F-35 actually arrived and landed (using the hook and wire arrest as it apparently had a hydraulic issue), the airport was closed for 2 hours waiting for Usaf technicians to remove the stuck F-35. All remaining aircaft were diverted to Araxos base and all spotters were removed from the base after the mishap."
See you all on Tuesday. Anyone on the Monday morning Wizz fight out of Luton?

The Italian F-35's and Romanian F-16's have cancelled
Still looking forward to this.
But not the early Monday morning flight out of Gatwick with Easyjet

Both fly from their home base (Fetesti and Amendola), according local news papers (Italian tanker support could be seen daily at ADSB, above the Ionian Sea)

Re: Exercise Ramstein Flag 30/9 to 11/10/24
Well I assume that's it - a very nice day after a slow start.
Exercise flying was started by two LN F-35A and consisted of 35 aircraft which were all back around 4pm followed shortly afterwards by a glorious banking flyby by Canadian Air Force A310 15004 a fitting finale.
I saw 11/13 on my hit list so happy with that

A very short but superb event. Getting in was swift and very relaxed, I was by the line in 10 minutes. Prob about 200 people in an area the size we had at tiger meet with 8 times that many people. Quiet in the morning as we expected but a very busy 3 hours at the end with a stunning backdrop and some nice touches esp from the French and Hungarian’s on the taxiway. As mentioned that baking pass from the CC-150 with drogues out was superb. Time for some Mamos!

Flying log from 8/10
While I was queuing to get in after 09:30 two HAF F-4E broke to land ( 71760 and 01518) not read off by me - 71760 #1 flew directly over the main entrance with 01518 further north - fortunately 01518 went up again later as a single
Exercise flying started at 13:30 - in departure order
5594/LN 493 FS
5596/LN 493 FS
327/4-HZ Rafale B
344/4-FK
5599/LN
5682/LN
5685/LN 493FS
107/30-HJ Rafale C
366/30-SO Rafale B
364/30-SM
354/30-FU
261, 279,229 Gripen - Swedish
4074, 4068, 4067, 4073 F-16C Polish
5485/LN "48OG" F-35
C.16-43/11-43
C.16-32/11-32
C.16-52/11-52 10001
C.16-46/11-46
15108, 15107, 15142, 15112 F-16AM FAP
MM7322/36-40 Typhoon
MM7319/51-19
MM7348/37-24
823 JAS39D Gripen Swedish
32, 33, 38, 40 JAS39A Gripen HuAF
You could see a fourth Italian Typhoon on the ramp - looked like a 4- from Trapani
Plus down the lane by the gate you could see a ramp of Rafale and F-16 but the guard came through the open gate and didn't look as if he wanted a chat so I drove off

Re: Exercise Ramstein Flag 30/9 to 11/10/24
Hi All,
I had a spin around the the outside of the base after being evacuated on the 1st October. Visible at the southern end was an F-4, RF-4E I think, with prominent Greek flag markings on the fin. It looked very similar to 69-7499 from a distance. Anyone have an idea of the ID?
Thanks in advance,
Ross

Re: Exercise Ramstein Flag 30/9 to 11/10/24
Just received an email from HAF which I assume we will all receive
Dear All,
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude for your participation in the Spotters Days of the Ramstein Flag 24 exercise. Your involvement is greatly appreciated!
It goes on to mention a competition for best photo etc
How cool is that !
I always feel us spotters are just getting in the way but they do seem to appreciate the interest that is shown - when properly authorized!

Ramstein flag will become a regular exercise according to this article :-
'Ramstein Flag will now become a “routine” event—the next one is already scheduled for spring 2025, a USAFE spokesperson told Air & Space Forces Magazine.'

Is Leeuwarden confirmed? All I’ve read is “north Western Europe”, without mentioning more specific area or basesSpilsbyPete wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 2:13 pmNext Year Leeuwarden in March

https://ac.nato.int/ramstein-flag/news/ ... ng-conceptThe next Ramstein Flag exercise is scheduled to take place in the Netherlands in the spring of 2025 in a continuation of exposing NATO Air Forces to a high-end training environment helping to ensure they have the capabilities required to defend the Alliance and its member Nations.
