Looking back we were so blessed with the weather. There were some moments when the temperature was in the high 20s like now but no where near as humid! This kind of humidity would have made riarvvery uncomfortable.

It rained a little on Saturday, and the low cloud meant that displays were flat and not as exciting as it appears they were on other days.red leader wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 8:14 pmLooking back we were so blessed with the weather. Still good overall. Only one average day, and that was far better than the worst of last year.

Tornados
Can anyone please tell me if the German tornados were ECR or IDS types? Thanks.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2024 General Discussion Thread
Overall I thought this was a good RIAT but not a classic as some have said.
The positives
Great weather apart from Saturday.v
An improvement in the catering compared to last year.
A great flying line up.
A great static line up.
Security bag searches better than last year.
The negatives
Queue jumping in P&V
Pushing and shoving on the crowdline and being whacked in the face with a large camera strap by an over enthusiastic photographer. They are getting pushier each year. This took the shine off RIATvfor me this year and it's the reason I haven't given it classic status. I admit this year's line up will take some beating but personally I've enjoyed other years better when people's behaviour has been more civil.

Re: Tornados
Thanks for that. Much appreciated. I remember that last year the two were listed as IDS and ECR when in fact they were both IDS so I thought it worth checking this year. how

Re: Tornados
The ECR batch was serialled 46(+)23 to 46(+)57, plus 98+79 which flies with WTD61 at Manching. Quite a number of the original batch have been retired over recent years after JBG-32 ceased operations in 2013, leaving TLG-51 as the sole operator of the ECR in Luftwaffe service now.

Re: MM7316
I assume MM7316/4-42 was at RIAT as I logged it departing on Monday departure day
If you didn't see it then it doesn't really matter what list it was or wasn't on?

Re: MM7316
Unfortunately I don't think I photographed it as I put a wide angle lens to photo something close at the west end when they took off - i didn't need it so probably just ticked it off the list as gone ( I was using PolList)

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2024 General Discussion Thread
J-616 was brought over from the Netherlands by road in June and was in the line-up of F-16's at the Western end on the Saturday & Sunday, does anyone know when it was brought over from the hangar?
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2024 General Discussion Thread
Google maps has been updated with the satellite image from Friday the 19th, there are only 4 Dutch F-16s on the line, so it suggests the special was towed out late that evening.
The other F-16s are dotted around waiting to be towed in to position, but I don't see anything that could be 616.
