Waddington viewing area dissapointing
Re: Waddington viewing area dissapointing
I would’ve thought locking the gates and corralling 100 or so people would pose a health and safety issue in itself, should something go wrong.
Re: Waddington viewing area dissapointing
Presumably there will be police patrols to move people on?
I stayed well clear last year so not sure how it went down.
As for numbers, I think there are 100 car parking spaces, so you could expect triple that in terms of bodies.

I would stay clear anyway from a place where you are, apparently, effectively imprisoned with no access to a lavatory unless you buy food and/or drink from the onside outlet. Good luck to those who choose otherwise.

Absolutely, they'll lock you up in one of their portaloos for the duration

Hitlers on parade again then
Best thing to do with this weekend is keep the wave closed put up cones and stop anyone watching, we are a small minority on here, jo public couldnt give a monkeys about Wave Hitler as they will do exactly as they wish.
With the wave directly under the display line it can and should be declared unsafe for anybody to stop or be in there, but then being in the WAVE obviously gives a false sence of security.
As for the gates being locked, great way for stopping emergency vehicles getting in if needed.

indeed, if it's in the display box/line no one should be there anyway -- weird logic keeping the gates lockedGhastly Whisper wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2024 5:57 pmHitlers on parade again then

Do the rules apply to non-public events? If not then that probably explains access being permitted. Being locked in though is not for me though thank you.

But you can't use the toilet without first buying something from them, which you can't do as you're locked in a toilet.
Wonder what the legalities of locking you into somewhere then refusing to allow you access to a toilet unless you buy something are.

The human rights lawyers would have a field day thats for sure, at the very least it is blackmail. I wonder when they last had a visit from the FSA? anybody know what star rating they have?
Also what are the hitlerish rules about dogs all about? A friend of mine was asked to leave because of his dog, yet others had dogs in the car park. No way will I ever, ever, ever, give them any of my money.

Re: Waddington viewing area dissapointing
This is all very sad and negative, I was thinking about a visit in a few weeks but reading this thread I'm not so sure it's a good idea..

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

The wave is a great location. I go often, rarely do I buy anything. If I needed the loo and have to buy something go for the cheapest. All this negatively about the wave baffles me. I remember the days before the wave, you could get about 3 cars parked off the road. Imagine that today when cobra warrior is on.
Re: Waddington viewing area dissapointing
There do not need to provide a loo its an honor what about road side food outside outlets who dont supply a loo people dont whittle
buy a cup or can of drink at the Wave and then go its a great place to come to public car parks charge you

Re: Waddington viewing area dissapointing
Trouble is with the public spotting area at Waddo, it has been run by a gestapo like state for years.
No other public spotting areas around the country has anyone in a black unmarked car telling you what you can do and where you can go.
It was opened by spotters for spotters.
Peeps at Lakenheath and Coningsby can park up all day without question.
Why is Waddo so different?

Re: Waddington viewing area dissapointing
The wave police smart car, complete with flashing orange lights, always provides me a laugh. It can often be seen on QRA from the burger van to about 30 yards away to tell someone off for having a dog/stove/too big ladders etc. After a stern telling orrfff, PC Wave re boards the smart car and returns to burger van. I believe dogs are permitted, apart from when exercises are on, or families days…..obviously?! Someone also decided to stage a dirty protest last year by depositing their non burger van bought waste in the car park due to not being permitted lavatorial access. “Do not defecate in the car park” was thus added to the list of house rules.
The place has many benefits, as have been mentioned and for which we are grateful, but the way it’s currently run just invited conflict; of which i’ve witnessed plenty!
Bring on Cobra Warrior eh. I’m sure the Facebook groups will be worth a read for daily entertainment

wot? (my brain hurts)
Re: Waddington viewing area dissapointing
'Smart Car Man' (aka Noddy) has left and is no longer about, there is still the Black Ford SUV that Andy drives, he patrols the car park in it - he is disabled so also drives to the loo when needed.dannyboyo20 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 5:34 pmThe wave police smart car, complete with flashing orange lights, always provides me a laugh. Not seen him do it for a while, but he used to drive up and down the A15 with his lights flashing to let people know they were closing if you had cars parked - he possibly stopped after doing it in front of a Police Speed Camera van and getting told off....
The chap who put the money in to the purchase the wave wasn't happy with how things were run, but I don't think his voice was heard amongst the girls - things to appear to be a little better of late though.

Re: Waddington viewing area dissapointing
Its not negativaty against the WAVE as in the car park, its the people that run it or rent it or whatever they do, having a key to the gate and running a burger van, it has put them on a gestapo/hitler power trip. In reality they have absolutely no power over anybody coming or going, but seem to think they do.65thAgressor wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 1:53 pmThe wave is a great location. The last time I bothered going the latest action was small ladders one side of the road large ones the other, there is and always has been room for ladders irrespective of size, but it is yet another avenue for the wave staff to boost egos! Yet again, unless it is made into a council by-law they have no right or power to enforce such a rediculous thing.
What really really gets my goat is the dog thing.
I do hope however they have the gumption to read this thread, hold their heads in shame and at some point try to defend there collective actions.
why? the only people doing patrols should be the Police and the armed forces.he patrols the car park in it
