The official name of the F-16 is the Fighting Falcon. I like this name better than the Viper. Just my opinion.

It would be great if the Jordanians could include a couple of their 'Fighting Falcons' as well as their usual 'Falcons' then ? :P
They have?
Ah fantastic, I didn't realise they had. :thumb: Got to be a first for the Jordanians, the last time they sent heavy metal to Fairford was 1989?

Yep three new operators scheduled now for this year Romania, Jordan and Morocco which will take them up to 12 different countries at IAT/RIAT in total over the years, hopefully the USA will send their colour tailed examples from Aviano as well this year.

Yes Mirage F1s at Fairford in 1989 and Mirages and Aviojets at Boscombe in 1990, was the last time anything other than a Hercules appeared from the Royal Jordanian Air Force.

Just realised that every NATO nation with their own flying assets, if Bulgaria confirms will be present at RIAT this year great support for the NATO anniversary theme.
You may want to rethink that one...

Ah, but you said "their own flying assets" which the E-3s are not.

Well here's hoping it's the start of a new trend with the Jordanians (instead of the usual same old, same old 'Guts Airline et al)

BMRIDER. I think we met at Duxford a couple of times several years ago. Get well soon, nothing is more important than health, not even Aviation. Best wishes. [I am currently recovering from a heart related 5 and1/2 hour operation in Addenbrookes] I wasn't ill, just something that needed to be done. N.H.S is brilliant when you are real trouble!!!.]

OK. Sticking to the 2024 RIAT. Does anyone know if the British Army or Marines will send any aviation units?

Nothing has been announced yet so wait and see. Army is likely just Apaches and we don't have Marines... Got to be a wind up

Someone should probably let them know then, because the Royal Marines are under the impression that they do exist! https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/organisation/royal-marines

The Royal Marines ( part of the Royal Navy ) have 847 NAS operating Wildcats - sadly these are marked as "ARMY" which must be an annoyance to them.

You will often her the callsign MARINE operating rom Yeovilton.

Thanks Yammer. Hold my hands up - should have checked.

So to MikeN - there'll be 2 Wildcats displaying.

Hi All….just a quick question if that’s ok!
I’ve never been to riat on a Friday and was wondering if there will be trade/squadron stalls, or are they there purely over the weekend?
Thanks 👍🏻

As I may speak for ourselves, currently our jets are scheduled to arrive on Thursday PM (subject to change). So in that case for sure we will be open with our stall on Friday! We will be in the green zone as far as I know.
