Rugged Old Workhorse

Post by Professor_M » Thu May 02, 2024 8:38 pm

Puma HC2 XW220/K dropped into Duxford this afternoon for some fuel - delivered back in 1971 and still going strong. Unfortunately, there was a lack of sunshine for almost all of the afternoon, but good to see nonetheless...

They've certainly had their money's worth out of the type, good to see these and thanks for sharing them with us.

Crikey, entered service while I was in primary school and possibly still in service when I retire.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

Thankyou - hopefully there'll be a good few more chances to see them out and about before they're gone - whenever that ends up being!

I should have thought they took it there as a potential new exhibit!

It's a winch of some form (I took some closer-up photos to check and there's definitely a hook below that yellow bit at the top with various lines going up to it) - I don't know how many have them fitted, or how long they've had them for, but it's definitely been needed since they've taken over from the RAF Griffin HAR2 in Cyprus and AAC 212 in Brunei.
