Are those photos doctored, as it would appear they have actually been delivered and not a case of a just signed agreement?
I thought the US we’re going to block this deal as with the inclusion of AIM-120 they deemed it to shift military power in the wrong way and potentially open an arms race down in that region,

Unless Denmark has reneged on the promise I thought the Danish Vipers were earmarked for the Ukrainians?

Here photo from Danish F-16 with Argentinan flag.

I understand
24 F-16 block 15 MLU to Argentina and one block 10 as GIA.
19 block 15 MLU to Ukraine.

They’ll be some defence chiefs sitting up and taking note of this and dusting off the South Atlantic maps I would imagine. Give it a couple years and the majority of airframes will be sitting in some field rotting away.

Re: Argentina to buy 24 Danish F-16
80! They probably only had 30 flying updated F-16AM and maybe 5/6 F-16B by the time they went out of serviceNorvilleRogers wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 5:48 pmThey had nearly 80, so should be enough survivors for both Ukraine and Argentina?
The timing is unfortunate as Argentina have pulled out of a UK - Argentina mutual cooperation deal and demanded fresh talks while at the same time the UK have asserted UK sovereignty over the Falklands.
Denmark should be reminded of their loyalty to NATO and it partners and the efforts and sacrifices being made to keep Ukraine independent. Obviously In the long run Denmark will benefit from greater security if Russia is held at arms length and booted out of the Ukraine.
Re: Argentina to buy 24 Danish F-16
Where exactly did he state 80 at the out of service date Mike?? Original Danish F-16 procurement was 77! Try getting your facts straight before overacting mate.slogen51 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 6:55 pm80! 48 were upgraded to MLU and 14 kept for spares. fail GCSE maths??slogen51 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 6:55 pm80! Re: Argentina to buy 24 Danish F-16
Passed A level pure and applied maths actually
My book has 33 F-16AM that were still allocated to active Squadrons Esk727 and Esk730 and that was back in 2019 so I bet the numbers have decreased since then
I simply said I thought they were going to be 'given' to the Ukraine and responding to a post that implied because there were nearly 80 delivered that they would be plenty for Argentina and the Ukraine - that maybe correct but I don't think so but no one on here can know the actual quantity of airworthy and updated jets involved?
Why is everyone so sensitive on FC - I didn't think I responded inappropriately or "overacted" as you said?
My main point is that I would rather the Danish didn't sell those jets to Argentina - they could be put to a much better use

Re: Argentina to buy 24 Danish F-16
They would really need tanker support. Interesting to see if Argentina try to obtain aerial refuelling tankers with flying booms. If US won't sell them KC-135s then Israel might offload or convert 707s for them.
The alternative is Israeli developed external tanks with the probes on them to refuel from their KC-130s. It all honesty I can't see Argentina going down the flying boom tanker route.

Re: Argentina to buy 24 Danish F-16
As it appears some other Countries don't give a s**t about re-arming Nations posing a credible threat against the UK maintained sovereignty over the Falklands,
maybe Airbus could supply Argentina with some proper boom equipped KC-30's? Or at least tuck them up with a nice Leasing arrangement.
I can foresee a time quite soon when the Royal Navy might have to get one of their ultra-unreliable Carriers down the South Atlantic & demonstrate just how effective
those F-35B's are!
Assuming the Carrier is fully fitted-out with working deck armament & operational AEW by then?

Re: Argentina to buy 24 Danish F-16
Given that they have only purchased the F-16s and no weapons to equip them, they don't really pose a threat. Argentina has a very long road ahead of it if it wanted to re-build an armed forces even remotely capable of trying to re-take the Falklands. Any presidential statements about it are domestic politicking only.
You want the Aladeen news, or the Aladeen news?
Re: Argentina to buy 24 Danish F-16
Argentina will never try and invade the Falklands again. It's just not going to happen - ever. There's more chance of China invading.
Re: Argentina to buy 24 Danish F-16
Also, just read that the delivery of these Argentinian jets is over the next two years, presumably as the Danish don't want /need to divest their Air Force of updated F-16 air-frames before sufficient replacement F-35's are delivered?
Assuming by deduction that the older Danish F-16 jets are the ones being 'gifted' to Ukraine in the near future?
I'm inclined to agree that only a Argentinian Madman would contemplate attempting to retake the Falklands, BUT they're not short of those over there!
They'd also have to overcome the formidable Falklands based Typhoon Force mimicking the three Gladiators of WWII Malta Legend.(actually 6!)
The four 1435 Flt Typhoons are allegedly marked Faith, Hope, Charity & Welfare Benefits?

These jets are over 40 years old, don't think they'll give much concern.

Age alone doesn't define the capability of an aircraft so don't know what your point really is.
