1/32 52 TFW F-4D

Post by PaulN » Mon Apr 15, 2024 2:36 pm

Hi All

A quick sojourn back into aircraft modelling , decided to build a USAF f4 after scanning a load of black and white negs of USAFE F-4S back in the 80's at Alconbury (Thanks Al)

This is Tamiya's 1/32 F-4C/D built as an F-4D 66-7527 of the 23 TFS 52TFW at Spangdahlem in the 70's This kit IMHO is not one of their finest efforts , but looks like an F-4D , markings were from the kit ( very nice) and Aero Decals USAFE F4 sheet which despite is age is a very nice usable set . Xtracolor enamels used with Hataka Orange Line varnish

By the by if any one is interested all my made kits from the 25 years or so are on my flickr site , the previous 35 years are lost to the mists of time :

On with the kit

Stunning as ever Paul, and that cockpit is a work of art in itself!

Thank you Keith

Remember those days very well , used to go up to Alconbury , from Northolt at least once a week in fact went to the Finningley Silver Jubilee show , stopped on the way up on the Friday , and again on the way back on the Saturday , and they had all changed !! Only had print film left but got a few shots of the parked up

Cheers

Paul

I don't know what to say - the attention to detail is scrupulous - they are beautiful objects and I would love one on the sideboard - a wonderful reminder of halcyon days.
