Kings Birthday Flypast 15th June
Kings Birthday Flypast 15th June
Might as well start this now as notification of rehearsals has appeared in the local paper. Rehearsal will be on 3/4 June and aircraft involved will include Tornados according to the paper! Maybe the RAF will borrow some!https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/24206117.mi ... folk-june/

I think he's saying the chap would be qualified to work for the mail on account of him writing drivel. Unless of course the RAF have been working on them secretly at Cosford, if only eh!Red-Eye-Knight wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 5:06 pmThere is no link to the Daily Fail only the East Anglian Daily Times? Ah yeah I get it now was still half asleep earlier today

Re: Kings Birthday Flypast 15th June
As the “House of Windsor” has deep routed German roots, then GAF Tornado’s would be quite appropriate!…..

Appropriate not actually coming over.
Re: Kings Birthday Flypast 15th June
They've amended their article; probably after multiple calls about the error!fatherfaff wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 1:24 pmThe link I went to talked about Typhoons not Tornadoes....

Thinking about going to Cranwell to see the rehearsal. Spot on the A17 looks good...but will they be applying parking restrictions??
Re: Kings Birthday Flypast 15th June
A17 can be very dangerous. Apart from the odd gateway, which may or may not give a view, people generally use the lane near the south-west corner which links the A17 and B6403.
Re: Kings Birthday Flypast 15th June
See following guide for Cranwell. Most people use 'L'. Plenty of parking on the grass at that location.

Looking into the sun?
Re: Kings Birthday Flypast 15th June
Have they stopped using Waddington now for the rehearsal?
Re: Kings Birthday Flypast 15th June
Yes, I think they've only did that once or twice and haven't used it for a number of years. Some of the participants for the practice will be operating out of Waddington or recovering into after.
Re: Kings Birthday Flypast 15th June
Thanks for the info and links - v helpful.
I was thinking of using the A17 side for photography but I wonder if that spot might be too close to the flypast. Any idea at what height they fly 250 or 500ft? NOTAM's silent/

Should be ok but if in doubt, the lane mentioned has open views.

Re: Kings Birthday Flypast 15th June
Is that Byrds Leap? They do a nice brekkie there, but the junction's very blind & dangerous, especially if you're turning right (towards Sleaford). One place that could definitely do with lights.
Everyone has a photographic memory; some just don't have film.
