Vigilants at Kemble
Does anyone have any info or ideally any serials for the Vigilants that have been roaded into Kemble please? Reports suggest anything anything up to a dozen may have arrived. I drove past the field today, there were definitley glider carriages visible in the Belfast area but I didn't have time to stop. Thanks

Just to point out. The Vigilants at St Athan are on private property and not accessible to the public

Re: Vigilants at Kemble
A friend who flies from Kemble reported yesterday that there are at least a dozen Grobs well hidden in the Belfast scrapping area with registrations painted over and just tail codes visible. They are apparently under the wing and tail of the B747 in the compound.

Re: Vigilants at Kemble
Has anybody got any serials, managed to see 3 off the road opposite. many thanks Phil
Re: Vigilants at Kemble
All Vigilants have now been removed from Little Rissington.
Re: Vigilants at Kemble
There are a couple at Grob in Mindelheim last summer (ZH271/SD,ZJ960/SH)
Re: Vigilants at Kemble
Thanks for the replies, I didn't realise they were there until I looked at my photo's of the jumbo. I will go back and have a closer look from the other side. Thanks Phil
Re: Vigilants at Kemble
Can anyone confirm which frames are visible from outside as my last two are present in the scrapping area..typical!
Re: Vigilants at Kemble
According to ukserials.com there are 16 at Kemble for scrapping, namely ZH116, ZH118, ZH119, ZH125, ZH126, ZH127, ZH145, ZH146, ZH148, ZH184, ZH193, ZH194, ZH205, ZH211, ZH268 and ZH270. According to "grahamdevizes" above, at least a dozen (his words) are in the "Belfast" compound, so perhaps all 16 are there. In addition ZH263 is at Kemble in the hands of a private buyer.
For completeness, also according to ukserials.com, the 15 at St.Athan are ZH115, ZH117, ZH120, ZH122, ZH128, ZH186, ZH190, ZH196, ZH208, ZH209, ZH249, ZH264, ZH267, ZH269 and ZH278.
As a technicality, all of these were allocated civil registrations in the range G-CMGD through to G-CMIN inclusive, although none appear to be marked as such.

Re: Vigilants at Kemble
The RAF had 67 Vigilant T1s
So with 17 at Kemble and 15 @ St Athan there are still 35 dotted around somewhere in the UK.
I wonder if and when they will make an appearance to possibly be scrapped

Looking on the CAA G-Info website
Aerbility had 61 Vigilants registered off which 32 are listed above

Re: Vigilants at Kemble
Afternoon gents,
Are the Vigilants which were reported in the Belfast scrap compound still extant? I seem to recall a report that they were all underneath the tail of the 747.
I'm down BZZ Friday for the Japanese triples so want to work this in too if still extant.
