Just saw that these patches went up for sale on BomberPatches last night.. and I missed out! Lovely designs however, especially the spotters one! Hope I can still manage to snag one somewhere still.

I'm very new to patches and memorabilia, so was curious,
do the patches often include or pay tribute to photographers or spotters like the ones above?

I wouldn't say often but it's not unheard of either.

Last year, one of the Lakenheath aircraft maintenance squadrons did a tribute patch to the spotters.

99ERS at Fairford had a Friday patch with the U-2 flying over the spotters.

48 MXO do a yearly spotters patch and 492nd FS did one back in 2022 I think but it was a very small run of them.

The short answer is no it is not common. And I will don my tin hat here but as a patch collector, I and many other collectors don't collect them. It's purely made for the spotters and photographers. So I'm not really a fan of them as they are not worn by the unit and are purely made for money. But they do appeal to the spotter/photographer community. And I just don't go for them or include them in my collection. I expect to get some grief over this post but it's just my opinion.
