Couldnt agree more and I would lnclude the families waiting.I think about those serving past and present and the families nearly every day.

Fifteen years ago I vowed that we would fly the flag of the Union 24/7 while our young men and women were serving to protect us.
To comply with flag protocol it is illuminated at night.
Half a dozen flags later [ they get battered by the wind] the "Union Jack" still flies and will always do so to thank them for their service.
Happy Christmas and New Year to them all and their families.
Stay safe.
