Update on 2022 RC-135 Incident

Post by 2e1var » Thu Sep 14, 2023 6:17 am

Can't see this anywhere else, apologies if it's already been shared, nor can I find an original thread to update.

A Russian pilot tried to shoot down an RAF surveillance plane after believing he had permission to fire, the BBC has learned.

That certainly was potentially a very serious incident and could have had major consequences. I think the US interpretation is more credible.

One news channel reported that several NATO nations fly over the Black Sea, but Britain is the only one to used crewed aircraft. That's because the RC gathers far more info compared to the drones used by others.

Its interesting that the USAF aren't flying their RCs over the Black Sea if thats the case.
