Its a HC.6A now, dont think there are any Mk4 Chinools left, believe they are all upgraded to 6a now

this is the bit i like,
One eyewitness said: "We'd heard it was a controlled crash landing after the hydraulic system failed on the rear rotors last night. It took some amazing pilot skills (landing the plane) to miss all those power lines nearby in the dark. "

How does repeating hearsay make you an eyewitness...? They're not even an earwitness in my book! ;)

Yes you are correct, I should have known better than excepting the report to be correct and not checking the update is a bit of a slap on the wrist for me
When I 1st logged this said Chinook way back in 04.05.1992, it was still a HC.1 as were the majority of my Chinook logging's

"Much ado about Nothing" in reality? It was a very efficient emergency precautionary landing in darkness on an uncharted landing site with power cables & housing close by. Okay ...a wholly professional & excellent piece of flying by the crew to save themselves & the Chinook. Hydraulic fluid peeing down the outside of the rear rotor housing, when experience dictates it works better inside the controls! It's events like this these guys train for & why they excel at what they do! :thumb:
On the trivial matter of what kind of updated Mark Chinook it was.... my unwanted opinion is that if it doesn't matter what it was, is this really a hobby for you? Does the serial number, unit, colour etc not matter at all? :O
To soldier-on in abject naivety not welcoming free education on the subject facts would seem wasteful imo!
[PS: I'm not a spotter, but I do like to know what I'm seeing!]

My mate had a tour around the downed chopper and took many photos as he lived nearby to the site 😳 😊
