What a prat - played well with Stokes

Anderson survived an umpires review

Woakes can bat but he won't mind an early bowl at the oval

England all out for 283

Australia put us in so perhaps a little under par?

Let's see how they go in the fading light

Anderson is due some wickets but his figures don't look marvelous in this series but he is the goat!

Why do you say that? Australia put us in

I am sure Stokes would have bowled if he had won the toss.

We won't know until the test is over, or if the Aussies score 400-450+ then it clearly wasn't enough. I'm not watching but would guess conditions are pretty much the same at the moment to when play started. Also if we were to lose the series 3-1 that would be a bit of an injustice. Shame this wasn't a decider!

Just a stat ... In 17 Oval Tests, the team winning the toss has put the other team into bat, but they have won just four of those, losing seven and drawing six.

Warner gone for 24, and it wasn’t Broad for once. 49 for 1

Over rate bad again. Lots of wickets have fallen but still only in the 73 over of the day. Would be here until gone 8pm getting the full 90 in

As expected no Ali
Moeen Ali will not field on day two

England have received an early blow on day two of the fifth Ashes Test, with it confirmed that Moeen Ali will not field.

Moeen sustained a groin injury during his knock of 34 on day one and was not able to field during Australia's innings.

An update on Friday morning confirmed the all-rounder will remain off the field, leaving England without their specialist spinner at The Kia Oval.

"England spinner Moeen Ali will not field today following his right groin injury sustained batting on day one of this Test. He will continue to be assessed by the England medical team," an ECB spokesperson said

91 - 2 Labuschagne caught Root for 9. He was clearly not happy with light.

Glad Jimmy finally got a wicket, hopefully the bowlers will tear into the tail now

Was a bit worried myself that they'd be in a much stronger position they are now. They appear to have adopted Snailball.

Starc bounced out

The Aussies have been poor - negative batting and negative bowling for the hook shots

tea 186 for 7

Bet they were bricking it facing Brook

Real shame if we manage to win this match that the 4th one was rained off.

I’ve seen those decisions go both ways. The Sky commentators are still debating it

In the good old days Smith would have been in so not bothered about it

Smith 50 not out - he is class and due a score and Cummins won't give in so this will be tight I reckon = worried
