Bud Holland was an idiot who didn't value the lives of those who he killed by being so reckless.

What a waste of fuel!

I love air displays and aviation, but I can't help but think that the B-52H's 28 loops is down to bad planning or as you say a tech issue....!
Does seem like a bit of a waste of time and fuel being airborne all that time just for 2 flypasts.

Technically, the whole event is a “waste of fuel” but we don’t complain about that do we?

I was told that the buff ground-crew said they expect to depart Wednesday.

According to commentary the B-52 was always planned to close with a flypast and land. They did say it took off earlier than expected. Maybe they were just bored and wanting to go sightseeing in the Cotswolds?

Anyone know when phantom is due out? And east or west park & view? Opinions would be greatly received.

Idiot is not strong enough, why those in charge did not remove him when others refused to fly with him.

I'd have thought yes today.

West end if you want primarily airborne shots (they'll be on RWY 27) or East if you want taxi out/take off shots.

Morning all, I know it may have been covered already but I couldn’t see it after a quick scan through various threads but couldn’t see the answer…the first departures kick off from 9am local this morning yeah?

Cheers,
Scott

Anyone know what support aircraft came in with the Hellenic F-4? There was a large amount of crew around it for a two-seat aircraft.

Nothing, they presumably came by road (into Fairford, at least!)

My experience of RIAT 2023. It did not start well on the friday morning, someone did not have the key to unlock the gate for the red zone. Which resulted in chaos all around the gate. Once in i was 5th in line for the hand luggage queue, ticket was scanned and ruck sack checked in about two minutes i would say. As for the rain it started from when i got out of the car, to when i left at 13.30. I did not bother taking pictures the weather was just so bad,i had on a shower proof jacket which failed due to the amount of rain..I was soaked to the skin ,my trainers acting like a sponge. And the brolly was turning me into Mary Poppins !
Onto Saturday, straight in on the red route. Ticket and camera bag both checked all very quickly. A much better day with the weather.I got all the static photographed including the green zone that was closed on the friday. I liked how the Italian harrier's and surrounding fighters were parked. I was disappointed with the flying aircraft in the green zone being so far away. It was much better in 2022. A particular shout out to the Royal Saudi Air force who had a tent set up. They were handing out tea and food to try, also a free bag of goodies( a print, mug, paper plane and a cap). Then the rain came, the print was ruined ,and again i was soaked to the skin.

This morning i booked tickets for fri/sat 2024 i cant wait.

I've just watched the video of the B-52H destroying many runway lights as it crabbed back up the runway with a crew person waving from the cockpit window blissflully unaware! Outrigger wheel looked like it was swivelling too - perhaps broken?! Or by design who knows.

Perhaps the B-52 pilot was tired from the 2hr circular holding pattern.

Either way a trip to screwfix is required.
