I think it was a mistake in the sheet of lies for today. The original text on the RIAT website stated the static aircraft will play double duty as the spare for the flying display.

Surely the sheet of lies is never wrong...it was already out the window before it started

The third expected AV-8 did not arrive today as it went u/s. It had a different c/s to the other two and was to have been towed into the static.
It is still possible to have a spare as a static visible to the public as per BAF F-16 demo jet (which was still visible clearly from the public area when it broke and Vrieske had to take the X-Tiger as the display jet.

Validation displays on Friday could be hampered by the weather Friday.
What is the course of action without Validation regarding the weekend.
Saturday's weather looks terrible with rain but also strong winds in the 40-55mph region.
That will most certainly have a big effect on flying.

Saturday doesn't look that awful with regards to rain, a lot less than Friday anyway.

Maybe move some of tomorrow's validations to today as a precaution?

Rain wise Saturday granted is not as bad as Friday,
It's the strong winds mixed with the rain. Majority of display are team
Displays that will be wind limited. Looking like the Sunday only for me now.

The Met office are saying thunder storm's and very heavy downpours in south west and strong winds from 11am at Fairford with showers all day
BBC Are saying 2 periods of thunderstorm with rain showers all day on Saturday with strong winds from 11am for the rest of the day.

Rain aside, it's the high winds that will be the big issue.

If it went tech, don’t they have another one they could send?

In theory yes, but who knows if they have one available. They also need to do training flights, maintenance, and who knows what. Air shows are not too high on the priority-ladder.

Does anyone know what happened to the MB 326s? They didn't arrive yesterday. Are they scheduled today?

First ever RIAT on Saturday and typically looks like the British weather is going to scupper it, driving from north wales in hope more than expectation now.. disappointing

It's not that bad, honestly. Friday is heavy rain Saturday light showers. Just a coat and waterproofs.

Too hot last year might be too wet this year, when are we ever happy.

Are some flying aircraft parked up in the green zone?
Last year it was good to be up close.
