Saudi Hawks
Re: Saudi Hawks
Where are the C/ns on the jets?
Re: Saudi Hawks
Good question!
Re: Saudi Hawks
MiG Eater.
Given that its primarily an RAF families day, with most acts going to RIAT the following weekend. Whats to get annoyed about.
Letting the Armed Forces get a day to let their hair down is surely a good thing?

Re: Saudi Hawks
All over, if I remember right the rear fuse is on a plate inside the airbrake. Centre is inside the aircraft and the wing I think is in the left undercarriage bay.
It don't mean a thing if the wings don't swing!!
Miracles I can do...the impossible takes a little longer!

Re: Saudi Hawks
Of course i've no objection to them having a families day on base - God knows the armed forces have fewer and fewer perks - I just find it really frustrating that there is so much untapped demand for airshows. Perhaps if there was still a Waddington Airshow (or Yeovilton Airshow, or Leuchars, Mildenhall etc etc) the Lincolnshire Police wouldn't be having kittens about managing traffic at the WAVE on Saturday morning!
Its just a sad state of affairs, that's all.
Re: Saudi Hawks
Ok, thanks. So somebody will have to get really close, or have an excellent camera and a lucky angle, to read them off in those places!
I wonder if that opens up the possibility of the wing sets not matching the fuselages?

Re: Saudi Hawks
I'm completely lost...
I'm not aware of any internal re-serialling within 88 Sqn. AFAIK the aircraft present should be:
8805 6Y019 (ex 7919)
8808 SA026 (ex 3765) - but, see below
8816 6Y001 (ex 7901)
8817 6Y002 (ex 7902)
8818 6Y003 (ex 7903)
8819 6Y013 (ex 7912)
8820 6Y006 (ex 7906)
8821 6Y012 (ex 7911)
Those highlighted have been checked. Note that in some cases it is only the previous serial (so maybe stencilled on)
8808 was apparently checked as SA25 in Malta in Sep17, whch would make it the former 8813, and before that 3761. Strangely I never found any evidence of an SA___ number on the aircraft at RIAT 2011, just the previous serial of 8808 as noted above. It would be interesting to know exactly what was read from that aircraft in Malta.
I will try to resolve this at RIAT.
PS According to my notes, 8811 was 6Y014 at RIAT in 2011. One of the problems was the initially thought tie-ups between SA0__ and 37__ serials were wrong,
Re: Saudi Hawks
I have contacted the man who passed on the Maltese 2017 tie ups so it’s over to him…
I’m just the messenger lol!

Re: Saudi Hawks
Is it right to assume the Saudi hawks will do a practice display tomorrow. As I suspect they will display at the families day. Also the weather for Saturday is terrible.
Re: Saudi Hawks
Saudi and Reds both up tomorrow. Both displaying and taking part in mixed formation Flypast over Humber Bridge, Lincoln and IBCC
