ENG 184 - 1. Nathan Lyon just left pitch with what looks like a bad calf injury.
Re: The Ashes 2023
188 - 2. Pope out caught on boundary for 42

Well that was a silly wicket to give away, Pope! Been bowling short balls since tea and he tries to hook it for 6. Was looking quite comfortable.
Another ton please Root.

Re: The Ashes 2023
Now Root's fallen for it too!
Nope, no ball.
Nope, no ball.
Re: The Ashes 2023
Lyon being helped off didn’t look for if you’re an Aussie anyway. Can’t believe how many no balls the Aussie are bowling
Re: The Ashes 2023
Bit of a poor shot from Duckett, so close to his 100. 208 for 3
Re: The Ashes 2023
Nudge singles and stop trying to slog it?
Re: The Ashes 2023
222 - 4 Root out caught Smith
Re: The Ashes 2023
Brook technique just looks wrong but somehow works. Would love to know what the background staff must think.

Agreed! 278-4 at close is good, only 136 behind. Feel like they'll come out all guns blazing in the morning.
Re: The Ashes 2023
I'm surprised that Stokes hasn't declared yet.
Re: The Ashes 2023
Encouraging to see these two steadying the batting.

Nick
That reminds me of an old boy I used to bat with in the works team - every time he/we went in to bat he would say " lambs to the slaughter" and " no silly runs"
Needless to say he was run out a few times
Remember the olden days whenever Root was out England would collapse - not anymore!
PS he was quite senior in the company and I wasn't but cricket brings people together contrary to the bullplop you read in the papers about misogyny and class elitism etc

You were Beefy and him Boycott? What have you done to my average!
In one of our inter company games I bowled spin (v. badly), our very sporty sales director cracked my first slow ball for four, I tweaked the next one faster and bowled him. It actually improved our relationship.

Another one gifted to the short ball, Brook for 50. And now Broad is in to bat.
Re: The Ashes 2023
311 - 7 Bairstow out caught mid on; atrocious shot
