Hi,James! Any thoughts on the Frecce Tricolori not on the list? I know pony 5 pilot was lost in a very tragic accident! They are free RIAT weekend on the agenda! As I say your thoughts would be very much appreciated!Steve!

A shame they can't make it! But plenty of other display teams and know they are displaying a lot in Italy for their 100th celebrations so understandable :)

The Air Tattoo will have a different feel this year with the absence of the Frecce Tricolori. they are a given at the Air Tattoo. In my opinion, it felt odd, (and still does), not having Solo Turk there. Another RIAT staple.

Depends how old you are...!

The Frecce have attended the last three RIATs, but were roughly every other year before that. By contrast, SoloTurk hasn't been on the list since 2018, though it was at 'most' RIATs for a few years before then.

Both are excellent displays, but I wouldn't say that the absence of either or both gives the event a 'different feel'...

i have only been doing riat since 2016..in all that time solo turk and or frecce tricolori seem to attend.so my point being, it seems strange them not being there.....to me at least! and lets not forget, we have only had 1 air tattoo since covid so 2019 was the last one prior. so to state solo turk hasnt been there since 2018 is somewhat misleading..its only missed 2 shows

Without checking back to my first in 1977, I have always had the impression that the Frecce are an every-other-year contribution (but they did come to Mildenhall - can’t remember Waddington or Finningley) but I do miss them when they are not there.

Frecce were at Greenham Common for 1976 show. Also seen at Yeovilton 1973, Biggin Hill 1974 and Mildenhall 1977, 1978 and 1979. In those early days their flying was always a little dare devilish, indeed at the Yeovilton show we witnessed the wing tip of one G91 very briefly clipping the turf.

It always make a change to see something different rather than the same old Frecce year after year.

:) I think they are great so I would rather see “something different” as well as “the same old Frecce.”

There was also the fatal crash during the 1979 Mildenhall show.

One of my favourite teams. I love it when they play Nessun Dorma at the end of their display

Frecce Tricolori last missed RIAT in 2017.

It was my first RIAT and was disappointed not to see them, but I had seen them in Bray, Ireland the year before.

It is a pity the Frecce won't be there this year, especially as they have all been painted up in centenary colour schemes too.
Everyone has a photographic memory; some just don't have film.
