What other option is there? Plus as said, the vast majority of punters on the gate are not enthusiasts.

Unless of course, one of the reasons it sells out now is because they let out less tickets than previously(which RIAT do AFAIR), but the last few times I went it seemed busier than before to me.. In which case yes, it is easier to sell out a limited ticket event!

Second, third whatever. When your talking about events with tens of thousands of visitors with limited ticket availability chances are its going to sell out. Although it would be interesting to see the numbers had the Red Arrows not been around anymore..

Also IMO it's an unfair comparison with previous Cosford shows, as there was a time when you could buy tickets on the gate, and if the weather was unfavourable then that's going to push numbers down for example.

Well it has to be easier, doesn't it? By definition, it's impossible to sell-out an event that doesn't have a limited ticket allocation...! ;)

Sally B is out of Cosford https://www.sallyb.org.uk/flying-programme.htm
will be interesting to see if Cosford replace it in the flying schedule like midlands air fest did (immediately). :ninja:

Catalina looks increasingly unlikely to appear. They’ve posted on social media saying their propellers still haven’t arrived back from Canada

I don't know how that lineup could fill 5 1/2 hrs unless they have breaks of course.

Cosford just posted
AIR SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT

Some of you will already be aware of the news, but we have received confirmation from the operators that the B-17 ‘Sally B’ will not be flying at Cosford this year. After careful consideration, the operators took the decision to ground the B-17 due to ongoing wing spar issues. We were initially hopeful that any inspection and subsequent repairs would be completed before the air show, which is why we had not announced this cancellation before. However, despite the B-17 operators working flat out, it’s clear that it will not be possible to get the necessary work completed in time for this year’s Air Show.

We are all as disappointed by this news as you are. ‘Sally-B’ is an amazing aircraft that flies in the memory of the men who flew, maintained and supported the bomber and fighter aircraft of the 8th Air Force. We look forward to welcoming ‘Sally-B’ back to Cosford in near future.

Our team will continue to work to add displays up until the last minute for this year’s Air Show, and we are delighted today that we can announce the addition of the de Havilland Vampire to the flying line-up.

We look forward to seeing you all on 11 June.

According to a recent post from Cosford they have " loads more" announcements to come between now and the day of the event.

Things could be looking up

In which case, unless NATO funded assets get allocated, get used to seaside line ups ;)

Facebook comment by the official RAF Cosford account said they are trying to get a B-1 currently deployed at Fairford to attend the show to a flypast.

Such a shame about Sally B, was due to see her this weekend and next, hopefully the inspection doesn't find any issues and she gets back in the air soon. Always love a Vampire though. It would be great if they do manage to get some more aircraft but for me the Patrouille Suisse are the big draw.

Indeed, it's always a joy to see Sally B in the sky. And it maybe the last time we see the Patrouille Suisse in the UK if they are not attending any UK airshow next year.

The Patruille Suisse are certainly the draw for me, shame the Turkish Stars have had to pull out of RIAT but out of their control. Hopefully Sally B will be signed off and back in the air soon.

Were you at Waddington over Cobra Warrior exercise? I may have been talking with you down the far end of the runway when the reds did their first 7 ship launch of the year right over our heads.

Catalina is out of Cosford

Catalina is out, more announcements this week
AIR SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT
We have today received confirmation that the PBY5A Catalina ‘Miss Pick-Up’ will not be flying at Cosford this year. The Catalina Society have worked incredibly hard over the winter, and although we were hopeful that 'Miss Pick-Up' would be able to display, ongoing essential maintenance work has taken longer than expected.
We can’t wait to welcome ‘Miss Pick-Up’ and The Catalina Society back to Cosford for a future Air Show.
WE WILL BE MAKING FURTHER AIRCRAFT ANNOUNCEMENTS IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS…
We look forward to seeing you all on 11 June

The comment from them in reply to the request from an individual for F-35 burner passes was interesting.
Though it did make me wonder, AIR the F-35 demo's so far from the RAF have all been reheat extant, no?

Also, you do wonder how on earth we get to 2 weeks before the RAFs own airshow and they haven't thought sending their latest equipment might be a good idea..
