Tac Blaze Tue 30th May

Post by toom317 » Wed May 31, 2023 7:27 pm

It was back down to Spade for my last trip out to get the Dutch on the range. I was hoping to get Chinook 603 and Apache 23 as they were the only ones I hadn't photographed on the range so far. 603 obliged by going right by me as part of a 3 ship. It wasn't till I got home that I realised I had got 23. The Apaches didn't come anywhere near me so I was only able to ID it due to the fact it was the only one kitted out with twin missiles on each pylon. I decided to head over to Carlisle airport to get some shots there in the evening light.

Another great set there Danny. Hard to pick from, but I would say number 1 Chinook chaff shot and number 3, first time all four Chinooks were up on the same sortie. D-603 had to return back to its parking spot tonight after making it to the runway for the last sortie of the day.

You to Danny. It was great to be out photographing stuff again, a chance catch up with folk and some good banter.

Out of curiousity, did the Apaches come by you after I left on Tuesday? I was surprised to get to Carlisle airport and find the 4 Apaches weren't there and caught them arriving shortly after I got there.

Indeed mate was a good laugh and always good to get out in the wilds again!

Unfortunately not; they gave us the runaround good and proper! Chinooks were op way off to the South East and AH seemed to be far to the North East. So you didn’t miss anything haha.

Hopefully not long until the next ex, although i’ll be pleased to not have to face the A69 for a wee while :-)

Cheers, Danny
