King’s Coronation Flypast Info 25th - 27th April & 6th May 2023
Re: King’s Coronation Flypast Info 25th - 27th April & 6th May 2023
I'd think the squawks includes air spares - more aircraft will launch then needed, plus there will be a 'whip' for some parts of the formation as well.

I understand the info may not be available or up for dissemination yet, but is there to be a flight leaders practice followed by a full practice ?
I have a bit of a trek so would prefer to "see" the full practice.

Looks like the Texans may be the whips in place of the old Hawks.

Full practice will be carried out elsewhere - the F35 section were doing a delta last week around Holbeach, the Typhoons will be practicing out to sea as they are doing something special.
The practice next week will probably see, at a guess:
1x Juno,
1x Navy Wildcat
1x Army Wildcat
1x Navy Wildcat
1x Chinook
1x Prefect as Memorial
1x Phenom/2x Texans
1x Atlas/2x Hercs
1x C17
1x Voyager/1x Atlas
1x P8/1x Rivet Joint
1x F35
2/3x Typhoon.
The first full run through will be on the day, if recent years are to go by

Thanks again Mike. I was hoping that there might have been a full practice at Cranwell but as you say they try to keep the effect of the full flypast for the day and away from the dreaded "Social Media".reaper493 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 8:54 pmFull practice will be carried out elsewhere - the F35 section were doing a delta last week around Holbeach, the Typhoons will be practicing out to sea as they are doing something special.

Weather forecast for Cranwell looking good for Tuesday so hopefully practice will happen. Not so good for following days.

Not seen any mention here of the CAP.
Last year the CAP aircraft operated in area "B" using callsign CAP/Stone callsigns as I recall and operated Mode A only on their designated Mode 1 [same as QRA missions] "sqwk"

Hi All,
Does anybody know if the Asda car park at Leyton Mills ( E10 5NH ), would give a reasonable view of the flypast ?
The reason I ask is, my wife cannot be left at home alone, and her mobility problems mean I would have to drive, not use public transport.
I live in Uxbridge , Middx.
Many thanks in anticipation.

Monday evening saw 3x Hercs flying in formation over Brize, unless they are practicing for their own retirement?reaper493 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 8:54 pmFull practice will be carried out elsewhere - the F35 section were doing a delta last week around Holbeach, the Typhoons will be practicing out to sea as they are doing something special.

There are 3 Herks due over London for the Kings birthday parade in June, maybe a practice for that
Re: King’s Coronation Flypast Info 25th - 27th April & 6th May 2023
I am guessing that it would be a good location due to its proximity to Wanstead Flats.napalm42 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 10:27 amHi All,

Gary, am I correct in thinking these times are GMT? A further question: what is the actual time the Flypast goes over Buckingham Palace? MTIAGary wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 11:05 pmI’m guessing it’s linked

That's correct, they are GMT/Zulu listed above.
I guess at stapleford they will start their run in to London, time over the palace is 1430.

According to the BBC's "Your full guide to King Charles III's coronation and the key times"
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-65342840
the flypast is at 14:15, so either the helis are not first in the flypast or either the BBC's or Notam's timings are a little off (my money is on the Beeb). In either case, plan to be in your chosen position in plenty of time!

A17 at Cranwell is closed for several weeks by the look of things, for anybody planning on going for the practice run.
