Midas & the Dragon Lady - 27th March 2023

Post by bigcrow » Tue Mar 28, 2023 12:57 pm

Seeing as it was a nice sunny day yesterday & the chance of catching the Indian AF IL-78MKI Midas departing RAF Mildenhall to take home the Mirage 2000's was too good chance to miss. An early start was in order to catch it's mid morning departure, after many delays with ATC & missing slot times, it eventually departed.

So with a not a lot going on at the Hall after the llyushin had departed due to a holiday for personnel on base, decisions decisions where to go in the afternoon?
Saw that 'Black 01' was up on a mission out of Fairford, so slight diversion on the way home was required. It returned in some lovely late spring sunshine to end a top day...

Lovely light for two classic airframes. You certainly stacked up the miles to do so.
