Exercise SIRIO’22 & EART 2022-02

Post by eyesinthesky » Sun Oct 16, 2022 9:34 am

Started a new topic as there is no Ocean Sky this year.

The EART Exercise is taking place in Lanzarote, & involves French, Italian & Canadian Air Forces. From ADSB plots only, the Canadian CC-150 is 15005, & the Italian KC-767 is MM62229. I haven’t seen a French A330MRTT plotting there yet.
Also at Lanzarote should be x2 Predators, from pictures on social media these were NR.05-03 & 04 coded 233-03 & 04.

Not seen any info re participants for SIRIO’22 at Gando yet, but have seen pictures again on social media of preparation for the exercise with a temporary tent city on base for accommodation & equipment. So time will tell on that.

Hopefully above information of use

I am on my way there tomorrow morning, so my fingers are well and truly crossed for something interesting. But to be fair I would be happy with Spanish Hornets.
It's great to hear the base is looking very active. Thanks for the information.

French A330MRTT just departed Torrejon de Ardoz. That might well be the one for EART at Lanzarote.

It's very quiet here today, I've been here 2 hours and only seen an SAR take off. Trying to entertain myself photographing the Binters !!!

An amazing end to the day after 7 hours of waiting in the blistering sun ! A huge launch of Typhoons and Hornets, I think around 20. Plus 2 what I think we're NH-90's, a CASA and an Atlas. All returning after an hour and a half with some nice returns, including a Typhoon and Hornet 6 ship pass and break. Having a well earned pint of dorada now !

Just back after a week in Las Palmas. Apologies for the delay in posting but I couldn't get logged in on my phone. I'll just post different sightings from the above, and a couple of queries.
Saturday 15th
T.21-06 C.295
T.23-01 A.400 to Lanzarote and then the mainland

Sunday 16th
MM62229 B.767 parked on the terminal then to Lanzarote
041/F-UJCG A.330 to Lanzarote
T.21-09 C.295
HD-21-21 Puma

Monday 17th
This was the arrivals day for all the visiting Spanish fighters. First ones around lunch time, ending mid-afternoon.
Only different one I have is F.18, C.15-42/15-29

On Wednesday 19th I logged F.18, C.15-88/46-16

On Thursday 20th C.235 T.21-01 arrived in the evening from TFN.

Queries/Corrections.
C212 T.12-71. code is 72-71
I have no record of Typhoon CE.16-22 but have CE.16-02/11-02
I am reliably informed the NH.90 were 18/19 and 20.

The preserved C.212 and Mirage F.1 were visible from the terminal departure area.

Any corrections/thoughts welcome.

Hi again Mike, The EF2000 coded 11-02 is a single seat Eurofighter, not a twin stick and my photo confirms the serial as C.16-22.

Hi Mike,

We were chatting on Wed (I think) with another Mike. I think I incorrectly told you the 2 flying NH90s were 19 & 20 which I was wrong & were infact 18 & 20. I just wanted to check with you about the 3 you reported & hoping it wasn’t based on my wrong info. Maybe someone you know read off all 3? I’m hoping so as that would clear this question up!

Also I checked my photos, I expected 11-02 to be a 2 seater, but was definitely a single seater C.16-22 still wearing its original code.

I never saw C.15-88 46-16, did you remember where it was seen? By the shelters? Or elsewhere? Thanks

Thanks for posting your report, & hoping to clarify the NH90.

Andy

Thanks for clarifying the NH.90, I got the info from you and Scramble but hit the wrong key. Sorry.
46-16 was noted on the 19th and if I remember it was part of a shelter shuffle with 46-21. Our accomodation was directly across the runway from the shelters so I was able to keep an eye. I never did identify the 2 in the QRA shelters, even under the lights at night.

As far as I'm aware the exercise runs until Friday so you should be in luck.

Hi All
Hopefully someone can identify 4 x local EF-18 that left at 12-30 today, had not got into position to read them off. A Visitor today was Armada Ce550 01-407 U.20-03.
Cheers Iain
