Trailing nicely over North Gloucestershire and South Worcestershire on a more westerly heading without the normal turn to the north east being observed.

Departure took him onto a left turn for a while pushing him further west , other than that pretty much standard track and just coasted out at 55,000 ft

I’m back from my trip to Belgium.

From tomorrow can we again not post tracking information in this section. A daily thread will be made in the correct area ie Heads up. It will be best if the thread is headed Fairford U-2 movement then the date.

Any posts in this section with be merged into the correct sections

I thought there was an offer of a poll / vote to decide what suits the majority - have I missed this?

I've always found the Fairford section really useful as it saved trawling through lots of posts that for me personally, I had little interest in (but know to others that's not the case). It helped me look out in the evening for the return and I'd try to post when seen to help others waiting to see it land.

Hopefully I'll find the OTT section as useful as this one but wanted to thank all those posting for their time and efforts - much appreciated by me.

For the sake of retaining a working section notification system I will run a daily log of departures and returns in this section alongside the U-2/other aircraft movements posts in the Heads Up sections.

It seems to be the only way to keep everyone happy.

Works fine for every other base in heads up. Absolutely no reason for Fairford to be different just to please a tiny minority. Just subscribe to the thread and you won't miss a thing. People leaving just because they don't get their way says it all really.

So you're suggesting people subscribe to the thread in the Heads Up section every day that the U-2 goes up? That's lunacy! The idea of a forum like this is to make the users life easier, not harder.

Why have you even felt the need to reply to this thread? Your post has added nothing to the topic and is just repeating points you have previously raised.

Future U-2 monitoring will be posted in the UK Heads Up section; the 'tiny minority' has been pleased.

I've said this before and I'll say it again.

The Airfields section, which the Fairford sub-section is in, is viewable by anyone in the world that has access to the internet and they don't even have to be a member of FC to be able to read every single post.
Should the timings and tracking of sensitive U-2 operations from & to the UK be accessible to the whole world? Of course not - the Heads-Up/OTT section is the place for it which is for members only that have 5 posts or more.
There is no reason why it should be treated differently from the other bases that have daily threads in the HU/OTT section.

Think that’s a case of the pot calling the kettle. As far as I can see only you and one other have been calling for this change, which makes you the minority compared with the majority of voices calling for the status quo.

Still you got your pedantic little victory, but don’t gloat too much :@

Why is it lunacy if thats all your interested in, exactly what I do and works a treat for me. Lunacy is admin condoning blatant breach of their own rules and even moving info posted in the correct section into the wrong one. You seem perfectly happy to support the tiny minorities opinion but take exception to mine and others. I queried this in the rules section easier and was happy to support a change if it was made. As it is I look forward to contributing to U2 movements in the future.

There's no gloating, I asked for clarification earlier, this was the response from admin. Its not pedantic at all, its just keeping FFD in line with every other base, there's no reason for it to be any different.

Now now, put away your handbags, this is getting monotonous. :Wow:
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!
