One more from Biggin Hill...

I always rather liked these... quite a noise, and they did take rather a long time to pass as they ambled along!

I was fortunate? (courtesy of an uncle) as a young boy to get a trip in a BEA freighter on a cross-channel 'jolly'. The whole thing rattled madly!
Walked on via the front and off via the back!

Very atmospheric pic which really conveys the flavour of Battle of Britain shows back then. Pl. post any others you have from that show as if they are of similar quality I'd be really interested in seeing them.

I remember one Alconbury show in the 1980's - no barriers. It rained and we all took shelter under the Bitburg F-15C. Had a chat with the pilot - he was nervous that someone would padlock themselves to his plane just like some peace protestors had done to the nearby F-111. In the end we were allowed to climb up the crew ladder for a looksie in the cockpit. No elfin safety and no barriers in those days

At Lyneham and in some other parts of the RAF they were known as "Whistling T!ts"

Absolutely fabulous ... I miss the whine of those Darts as they were a regular type at Hurn in the 70's performing ILS approaches.

CCF camp at Cottesmore and had 6hr trip in 115 sqn Argosy calibrating Lands End Tacan and other bits. Great stuff. Only shame was if had been on mission the day before there was a lunch stop at Lossiemouth. Not to worry, an experience never to be repeated

It nearly always rained at the Biggin Air Fairs, the Vulcan made a great umbrella.

Great shot, there always seemed to be an Argosy at Biggin Hill shows in the sixties. I'm probably not the only one who visited Kemble in the seventies when there were loads stored outside.
