Next week?
Next week?
Apologies for what may seem silly questions, but we live a long way from LN so don’t want a wasted trip. We’re on hols near Cambridge next week, can anyone tell me if it’d be worth slightly annoying the missus by dragging her away from National Trust places and over to the base one day next week? Probably one of the 13th-16th mornings or afternoons:
Can one still park at the viewing area at present?
Is it still infested with protesters?
Not a day/week off from flying anytime next week is it?
Living in Cheshire I don’t get much opportunity to photograph mil jets, so want to make the trip count! Thanks in advance gents!

Re: Next week?
Should be normal ops week.
Yes they only protested on a Saturday a couple weeks ago and plenty of room to park.

Re: Next week?
MH is Notam closed 16th 2200z to 21st 0500z, and originally LN was too although that notam seems to have disappeared now.
Apart from that only relevant notams are 13th 0800-0900z and 15th 1230-1300z. No take off or landings on south side of runway. Straight in full stop only. Hold on north side only. No engine or equipment runs near hangar 7.
Hope you get some good movements

Re: Next week?
Generally you need to be there for 7:30 - 8:00am for the morning departures but there is usually something happening at Lakenheath all day. Obviously it is luck of the draw as some weeks are busier than others. Don't forget Marham is only a 40-45 minute drive up the road

Re: Next week?
You could drop your wife at Ickworth House and go to Mildenhall/Lakenheath. You could also do the same with Oxburgh Hall and Marham. Just a thought - maintain marital harmony though!
Re: Next week?
June 19th/20th are federal holidays in US, Emancipation Day. 20th is replacement for 19th as that falls on a Sunday. This all ties in with the LN/MH Notams of being closed.TeeJay wrote: ↑Sat Jun 11, 2022 7:38 pmMH is Notam closed 16th 2200z to 21st 0500z, and originally LN was too although that notam seems to have disappeared now.

Re: Next week?
Thank you gents, really appreciate the info! Looks like I’ll get away with a couple of hours over there one of the days. Looking like good weather too, might finally see an F-35 in real life.
@Nighthawke I’m thinking of Oxburgh Hall for when we go to Norfolk in July, will definitely try and get a Marham trip in then.

Re: Next week?
Don’t forget Duxford is just down the road from Cambridge and the cemetery at Madingley is certainly worth an hour.

Re: Next week?
Would recommend Duxford.
Worthwhile for £25.00 entrance fee but allow more than an hour as lots to see and you need to get full value from your visit
Enjoy and have a safe trip

Re: Next week?
Do any members know if the 48FW will be flying on Monday?
I am travelling to Norfolk and I thought about popping into LN for a couple of hours, but I thought the airfield may be closed on Monday.
TIA

Re: Next week?
It’s NOTAM’d as being closed - ‘Juneteenth’ national holiday in the U.S.
(Mildenhall also closed).

How long does it go on for, please? I am drive past LN on my way to Norfolk on the 30th June and wonder what might still be around.
