Chilean B767 due Waddo soon, possibly Tomorrow.

that will be the only 2nd Chilean Airforce visit that a know of?

Already been at least two visits previously. A 707 in 2000 that took General Pinochet home and then a visit at the 2008 show by The Halcones and supporting C130

C-130H 995 I logged at Northolt on 09/02/1974. Then there were the re-worked Hunters at Dunsfold and did the 3 Canberra's we donated to Chile after the Falklands incident leave our shores in Chilean marks.

I think there is mention of these Canberra''s as a hurried military delivery of a 'previously agreed contract' in the Harrier 809 book, Falklands account.
Can't quite remember what was said about national markings but crews were obviously UK-origin given specialist nature of high altitude op.'s meaning r/t for the 'delivery' flight was minimal

I thought the Canberra’s were being operated by the RAF out of Chile during the Falklands conflict and were then handed over to the Chilean Gov once hostilities ended?

Training going well for the Chileans.

ZH103/106 should depart Waddo towards the end of July, flown by RAF crews, guess the 767 will return.

107 had it's rotadome removed some time ago, and has now been decommissioned and is awaiting scrapping, aircraft is fenced off.
102 has recently lost its rotadome and is believed to be being decommissioned at the moment, before being scrapped.
101 will have its rotadome removed soon (if it hasnt already) and decommissioned, then broken up - it's no longer been sold for spares.

Not sure what will happen with 105 (WEST), presume scrapped on base.

Not sure where they will do the scrapping - bays 1-7 (Old Alpha) needs to be prepped for the Red's so can't see that happening - maybe large fences will be erected ala Nimrod MRA4 so no one can see.

I wonder if an E-3 Sentry will put in an appearance at RIAT22? One last look before they leave our shores at the end of the month?

I'd doubt it given that they are no longer in RAF service, they are owned by the Chilean Air Force, and, additionally I suspect that any RAF crew rating/qualifications/dispensation would be for training only.

When are we going to see blue rudders and "Fuerza Aerea de Chile" painted on the side?

One of the possible dates for a departure is rather close to RIAT, so I can't see it my self.

Think there's more chance of a NATO E-3A turning up, and we know they nearly always cancel.

As for Blue rudders, as they are being ferried over by RAF Pilots, the RAF details will remain (boooo!!)
I believe the FaCh plan to upgrade them to a glass cockpit at Santiago, so expect the new colour schemes to be applied there.

Ah fair enough. Actually all I had envisioned was just a simple farewell flypast, if you like a sort of cameo appearance. :)

Ouch! Why not park it at RIAT for the Weekend in the space vacated by the B-52? ;)
