NGAD

Post by verreli » Thu Apr 21, 2022 9:23 am

FY23 has allocated US$1.7bn for NGAD. This suggests production level funding is only a year away. By implication R&D and development aircraft must be quite advanced. It's rumoured that aircraft are flying; question is where? and where could a squadron operate from without aviation enthusiasts getting a photo? We are way past the days of the F117 with big lenses on high resolution cameras in remote areas. How long will NGAD be a secret?

The drawdown of 33x F22 also suggests squadron level rollout.

Groom Lake is still inaccessible to the outside world.

The same place the B-21 prototypes and 'RQ-180s' have been flying from for the last five or so years.......

All very interesting, especially the satellite image but it does beg the question, with all the foreign spy satellites around, why did they make this mistake, unless it wasn't a mistake and they wanted to mislead. Also, I've been to Rachael which is close to Area 51 during Red Flag. Unless they only fly it at night, there are still big lenses that can capture reasonable resolution upto quite high altitude in remote areas. Having said that, the recent F117 operations have remained low key with only a few in flight images and they were taken from Rainbow canyon which is now closed to LL traffic.

Not as low key recently for the F-117:

But agree, I've seen footage of F-117s over groom lake - granted, not the best quality due to heat radiating from the ground, but nonetheless it's not as secretive as it once was.

A way of achieving air superiority thus replacing F15 and F22. Not necessarily a turn and burn fighter but a system likely including both manned and unmanned networked aircraft platforms that control and dominate enemy airspace. It's also likely to be stealthy, fast and look very cool.

If it was painted in America with 'gray' paint, would it still be gray even if it came over here, though..???

9 - ALL posts must be made in English and readable with no text-speak at all. Text-speak is not regarded as a mode of communication here because it is pure idleness/laziness of the English Language. If you are in doubt of how to spell a word then please use google, a spell-checker or a dictionary.

Posts should never be made entirely with capital letters (neither should topic titles) - this is classed as shouting and is rude, posts should not be made-up entirely of lower-case letters either. Each sentence and thread-title should also start with a capital letter.

Can we remind all members to use grammar to the best of their abilities, we have a number of foreign members who are able to converse perfectly well in a language not their own - it is not beyond the realms of possibility that UK members should also be able to make themselves understood too.

NGAD is not text speak or any of the above. It is the name of the project for the next USAF fighter. Oops sorry, used the word USAF I guess by these rules that would not be allowed either!!

PS "9 - ALL ' is shouting.. just saying.

I'm confused by the post, I didn't use text speak, I expanded on the Acronym. Is there something wrong with the Acronym?

Oh it's the thread title being NGAD. Makes sense, I admit I had to look it up.

🇺🇦. 🌻 😷

By Thunder, you were up late! ;)

So, “Reasons in writing”.

The local area is festooned with dayglo yellow signs for the route of

Rutland–Melton International CiCLE Classic 2022. http://cicleclassic.co.uk/

Now I know that the lycro lads get a pain in the butt enduring their hobby but why it is necessary to corrupt the English spelling of the name of their activity is amazing.

It is claimed to be a Belgian style race. Why not use ‘fiets or velo’? Grump, grump.

It is currently quiet here in the house. So like yesterday I logged on to FC. Sorry, Fighter Control. Verreli’s post caught my eye.

What the * does that NGAD mean?

Even after an explanation had been posted by an FC member the title was not changed :S So in keeping with the ethos of members helping were mods might be too occupied running the site I posted a part copy of the rules.
Rule 9 begins with the “ALL” ..

My turn in the chair for a haircut then a lazy afternoon not watching the television version of Formula One motor racing.

Of course if the weather holds fair, not watching military aircraft at former RAF (Royal Airforce) Cottesmore might spice up life
