'Gary' posted NOTAM for tomorrow's proposed practise on page 13 so I was basing my plan on that - assuming the forecast fog doesn't materialise - as some have suggested, it has been forecast all week but wasn't. Decisions, decisions, eh?

Will the camping site be taking visitors tomorrow (Friday), alternatively where is it best to park?

Guys!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Im heading up from Norfolk on Monday for my first and also final visit to Cottesmore, i have seen that a local campsite will be open on Wednesday next week, is this true for Monday also? Im assuming there will be movements on Monday and does anybody know the wind direction for Monday?

Wednesday im heading to 'my local' Marham to hopefully catch the flypast!

Cheers Guys!

Just hope the forecast fog permits it to happen.
Karl - do you mean just flypast practise, or actual sorties as well? :)

I'll be there - all set for early off - just to get past Northampton and remain sane!

Not 100% certain what's planned after today's cancellation but there's certainly an air-test to be done.

I'll be calling in the morning and will pass on what I can.

Much appreciated! :thumb:

Likewise, if anyone local can give a heads up on the local weather conditions in the morning, it would be great! :)

Sorry if I have missed it in any of the other more recent pages (limited access at the moment :( ) I read here that a weather forecast on Mon 13th will dictate if Wednesday 15th is the chosen date. Has there been any update since and if not when on Monday 13th are "they" likely to give the go-ahead date??? Need to confirm which day off I am taking with my MD.

TIA :thumb:
you'vde answered your own question, wait till the 13th!

COT is still iced out and they don't sound especially hopeful. Will call back later.

Weather observation at 0845hrs. Oakham Ashwell area.

Cloud disappearing fast, great visibility. Lots of blue, sun shining. If they go up and stay o/head they will be good to photograph.

As they de-iced yesterday it surely will be thawing on the a/field.

Is it only me who thinks that it is ridiculous that an RAF fast jet station has ground to a standstill for about 2 weeks now because of snow and ice? I know they aren't training for ops anymore, but come on, its a joke that they haven't had the kit or will to clear the runway and taxiways. Low morale, I guess. :S

Well it will suit the bean counters in the MoD. Think of all the money they've saved on fuel.

Thanks Matty. This is getting confusing. Does anyone know what's happening today? I'm poised to go and don't want to miss the 16, but I don't fancy a 4 hour wasted round trip.

I've just spoken to the Community Relations Officer at Cottesmore, who said it doesn't look hopeful and advised me not to come. Disappointed to say the least.

I was told there may be some activity later (Wittering 8?), but the 16 ship is highly unlikely.
