Lakenheath back to full strength

Post by slogen51 » Fri Mar 04, 2022 7:39 pm

The return of 14 Bolar from Spain, 6 Valkyries from the Baltic and one Grim Reaper from Lask means that all aircraft that should be at Lakenheath are a Lakenheath less the number on routine depot maintenance.

So that should be :-
54 F-15E ( 54 serials but some are on depot maintenance)
10 F-15C ( including the ghostly 84-0001)
2 F-15D
7 F-35A

73 48FW Aircraft

* What happened to 98-0132 - no longer 48FW?

Add 14 Aviano F-16C/D

Less 9 at Warner- Robbins

=78 fast jets at Lakenheath on 4th March 2022

Hoping to visit on my Birthday 15th March as I get the day off work! Hopefully they'll all still be there!

Didn't 3 F-35's divert to Leeming this morning? Or did they recover later today?

Charles

Yes and yes

Castle 11-13 arrived at Lakenheath this afternoon from the Baltic via Leeming to be more precise!

I take it the SJ’s are still away, appreciate they are not based aircraft but visitors albeit on an extended stay?

Zero SJ at Lakenheath - even 88-1676 that arrived earlier in the week ( for a spot of spannering?) Departed back to Europe yesterday as Siege 71. You will have to make do with 14 AV vipers :D

It would be nice to have something else for a change from F-15E and AVs

There’s a Polish Herc keeps dropping in for variety 😀

There were two Polish Hercs on Thursday. The first one nearly landed at Mildenhall in error until the tower alerted them that they were on the wrong approach. Quite entertaining for those of us standing in Johns field as the pilot was throwing it around a bit trying to line up very late for a Mildenhall approach and then aborting after the tower warning and then heading North for Lakenheath. The F16's will certainly add some variety as dazzler says. I hope that they stay a while.

AVs are all readable from the road next to the Golf Course, lots of waiting for the wind to blow the trees out the way to read them all off though

Slogan, do you mean LN’s jets are all back in Europe, back from CONUS and CENTCOMM TDYs? It’s not considered a good sign in the USAF when everyone’s back at home home when a contingency kicks off.

I said all aircraft are at Lakenheath ( except for the two that diverted to Fairford :) ) I wasn't trying to make a particular point simply saying there are currently 81 jets in service at Lakenheath ( except for the two that diverted to Fairford :) )

"The return of 14 Bolar from Spain, 6 Valkyries from the Baltic and one Grim Reaper from Lask means that all aircraft that should be at Lakenheath are a Lakenheath less the number on routine depot maintenance."

I dare say this is just a temporary state in these uncertain times?

Aye indeed, you’re just the messenger not the commander, I just hope Europe’s advanced force get some recognition given even Mildenhall must be at the moment! 😀

Slogan, thanks for the update; if I can get out of fence painting I am aiming to get down Wednesday or Thursday. (I know I still owe you a coffee)
