Trip out today to see the 'legacy Eagles' before they soon depart. Didn't quite work out as planned and only shot this pair, but there was plenty else going on with based Strike Eagles hot pitting, the visiting Seymour Johnson squadrons putting up jets and of course, the new boys from the 495th FS getting settled in.
Will add more in the next few days as I sort through them.
Nice shots.....
Out of interest...what does the text on the F35 fin say (just above the shield)?
Its gonna rain, its gonna rain till the levee breaks, a tidal wave of fear and pain washes us away, another fight into the night until nothing else remains, how do we find harbour from the Hurricane?
Suspected it might be the squadron motto...thanks very much for confirming

Thanks for clarifying the Motto in Latin & English. Also noted in the photo's "New 48th FW F-35 Boss Bird" topic by 'hawgwash' the new "F-35A 19-5484 marked "48 FW" which first flew from Fort Worth yesterday (Jan 4th) & carries a rather odd interpretation of the Statue of Liberty on the tail" & no Motto !
As promised, here's a few more shots. All repetitive captures I'm afraid. It was really busy with flights though, as all four based squadrons are home, as well as the visiting jets from Seymour Johnson.
I don't have a problem with 'record' shots at Lakenheath - it's like the Fawlty towers sketch when Basil asks " what do you expect from see out of a Torquay hotel window? Fields of Wildeebeest or herds of elephants!
