Thanks for sharing these, an interesting selection of shots. Probably one of the most successful British aircraft to be produced and worth remembering that it made its maiden flight in 1974.

Interesting thread ACW367. I'm tempted to go through them and work out "where are they now"!

Interesting and timely thread given the type is being retired from squadron service next Mar when 100 Sqn disbands. I'll sort out some of mine to add. Need some early pics of ones in the tactical camo!

I did promise to sort out early pics of Hawk T'1As in tactical camo so here they are. The T'1As were Hawks with hardpoints for weapons carriage (rocket pods/practice bomb dispensers/sidewinder missiles) and were issued to the two TWUs @ Brawdy + Chivenor, each of which operated 2 Sqns. (79 + 264 @ Brawdy and 63 + 151 @ Chiv). The jets wore this scheme throughout the 70s and early 80s when they began to appear in the Barley Grey scheme generally adopted throughout 11 Group for its interceptors. This coincided with the newly adopted wartime role of the T.1As operating with the new Tornado F3s within the Mixed Fighter Force concept in which the F3s would vector the Hawks onto Bogeys which they would then engage with Sidewinders. For some reason I never managed to capture a colour pic of a 79 Sqn. a/c in tactical camo.

Nice shots to add to the set.
Just a minor point, the TMk.1 already had weapons capability and could be fitted with pylons, the T1A's (80 a/c approx) were sent to Dunsfold for conversion, by addition of a server and wiring for carriage of BL755 & Sidewinder. Once it was realised that the TWU aeroplanes were racking up fatigue damage much more than the FTS (Valley) fleet, the RAF made some swaps of the additional T1A fit onto T1's to produce the TMk.1W.
The different designations became academic from end of the 1990's once flying had been concentrated at Valley and the Sidewinder and War role were no longer required.

Thanks very much for this info. First I've heard of the T.1W
