There we go. I would be interested to know whether Scramble have ‘assumed’ that or whether they have had it confirmed?

For what it is worth, Joe Baugher is showing the batch of F-15QA's as 17-0001 to 17-0036.

I don't think it's either -0001 or -1001...

Here's the data block for the second F-15QA, clearly marked as just 17-002.

EGVP,
It will have a fourth digit after the ‘hyphen’ but as I’ve already mentioned, it isn’t known. Your photo clearly shows the data block on the port engine intake. The port side of the front ejection seat also only shows 17-002 etc. It’s a FMS number so the full serial will be 17-x002. Unfortunately it seems that atm, only the people who issue the serials at Wright-apart know what the ‘x’ is.

You say that but as we've seen with US military serials in recent years, the "there's four digits after the fiscal" no longer holds true. I can't think of a time the data-block on a new build aircraft has contained anything other than the full serial. Obviously once things start to go to local paint-shops things get a little more complicated.

I usually find Joe Baugher's excellent site is the definitive source for serials.

Joe's site is very good as a starting point but...does he get his info from other sites or official sources? If it's the former then we still require confirmation.
Until somebody tells me that they have confirmation from an official source, the 'x' will remain an 'x' in my file.

Did Retro 65 go up again yesterday; we had a singleton heading east-west to the north of Kendal at 1515 just beneath the clouds- est. FL035? I normally expect LKNs to come over multiples.

TQ, Bollo. Just seen it in 'heads up'; appears to have been "Stake 71".
