Genuinely intrigued as to how the cotswold gliding club have aircraft up but the B1s are "close to zero"...

Flying on 8 out of 20 days so far. Worth it?
Is that a serious question ? Unlike B1 & B52 Exercise deployments in recent years [ e.g. Baltops/Saber Strike , Ample Strike etc] , participation tending to involve reasonably intensive flying over 2-3 weeks , this is a 'BTF' deployment with the mission being somewhat different . {e.g. involving some long range missions with multiple air to air refuellings.} And how many previous exercise deployments have featured regular 'hot pit refuels' and follow on same day missions ? So the flying days have generally been more intense and demanding . Add that this deployment is apparently expected to last for several weeks , with maintenance hungry complex ageing aircraft , supported by what seems a modest team of personnel and support equipment , and I'd say thats pretty impressive . So worth it - its a 'yes' from me . :thumb:

As I said, a genuine question. And reasonably answered. Your explanation seems more feasible than "the wind", certainly.

This wind speed ain't a problem.
Wind speed isn't, wind direction is.
