Maybe it's just a bit cloudier than 7/8 oktas and is 7.2/8ths cloudy.

Just a quick one. Anyone parked down washpool lane is about to get moved on as the large construction vehicle needs to get down the lane.

Thanks Neil was just putting it there just in case as the driver of the cab was not in the best of moods.

Anyway back on topic DARK42 should be back around 16:00 roughly. And is currently somewhere off the East coast of Scotland.

Visual south of Tewkesbury heading direct to Fairford at 15:17 - wasn't holding back on the approach speed or noise.

Dark42 heading north over me 9/10 cloud cover again unable to see him
I thought cloud cover was rated using Oktas (8ths), do you mean 7/8? Just being pedantic :P
Oktas? You must be old, like me! ;) Classification in tenths is pretty universal these days.

"Classification in tenths is pretty universal these days"

In what? In Aviation it's measured in eighths...

Thought we'd given up with oktas years ago?

It's now "few", "scattered", "broken" or "overcast".

Each of which is based around oktas

"Oktas are often referenced in aviation weather forecasts and low level forecasts: SKC = Sky clear (0 oktas); FEW = Few (1 to 2 oktas); SCT = Scattered (3 to 4 oktas); BKN = Broken (5 to 7 oktas); OVC = Overcast (8 oktas); NSC = nil significant cloud; CAVOK = ceiling and visibility okay"
