There have been plenty of reports over the last few days of the Taliban taking over Afghan Army equipment which was supplied by the US so its obvious they have American assets plus you can see by the weapons the fighters have on tv that they have American weapons.Andy Marden wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 5:03 pmWhere have you read that the Taliban gave taken over American assets?

The poster was enquiring about CH-46s (Department of State) and AH-64s, ie American-operated assets.
I'm quite aware that Afghanistan operates equipment supplied by the USA....

Re: Kabul - USAF C-17 - 02-1109
These CH-46’s/AH-64’s can fly to Tadzjikistan or Uzbekistan if they want. Or being taken by C-17. Or fly out to sea and land on board one of the ships. So no reason yet to leave them behind

a small amount of explosives will sort that out, I suspect they will destroy them on site as its less dangerous than trying to fly them out.HighFlyer21 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 4:01 pmWhat happens to the remainign heli's on Afghanistan? Seaknights and Ah64s?
Re: Kabul - USAF C-17 - 02-1109
On a side note, but connected. 22 military aircraft, 24 military helicopters from the Afghan armed forces left the country to Uzbekistan. A Tucano crashed. Some say it was shot down, others say it collided with an Uzbek Mig-29.

Was referring about the Taliban taking hold of these aircraft.Andy Marden wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 5:20 pmThe poster was enquiring about CH-46s (Department of State) and AH-64s, ie American-operated assets.

Re: Kabul - USAF C-17 - 02-1109
American owned and operated assets will not be surrendered to the Taliban. If they can’t fly them out they will be destroyed in situ after anything of consequence has been removed.

Personally, I think that once the “humanitarian airlift” has been completed and all easily removable significant military equipment (helicopters/vehicles/equipment etc) have been removed, then what is left will be destroyed by Special Forces etc! Following on from that, once no military personnel are left in Afghanistan, then I would assume that “surgical air strikes” may well happen, probably by B-52s on such places as Bagram airbase etc, in order to destroy any usable flying assets left behind at such locations!
Following on from the above, I have just looked on Wikipedia and the Afghan airforce did have significant numbers of flyable assets! Also of note are the outstanding deliveries of UH-60s that remain….according to Wiki only 16 delivered of an order of 143……can only assume that these will now not be built or incorporated into US military etc etc

There's a very strict agreement between the US and Taliban, which means the US won't be attacking anything left behind or shooting at anyone not shooting at them.
The Taliban is already flying some of the Afghan Army's helicopters. It's also desperately asking the Chinese for surface to air missiles to keep the US and NATO away (China can't wait for the Taliban to invite it in once the US has left - Silk Road here it comes).
Finally, the C-17 that left with 600+ passengers, but which had several fall to their death, has been impounded while it's crew is being investigated.

Thought it was 2 different aircraft - the 640 one left earlier, and the second one spotted with the people on was after?
Either way - I hope the crew don't suffer as a result...Not exactly their fault (especially when you can't see what's happening and you have to get out before potentially being attacked!)

I was tracking the flight with 600 plus onboard and it was night time. The video of people falling of is daylight so 2 seperaye flights and i dont think it was the same aircraft. Where is your info about the US agreeing to not bombing anything as im sure they already have done with some stuff.
Re: Kabul - USAF C-17 - 02-1109
I was tracking it before 11pm sunday so still dark in Afghanistan. I got a notification about the atc audio of it just after 11pm
Re: Kabul - USAF C-17 - 02-1109
The USAF have issued a statement via their FB page in the last 20mins stating it was two different aircraft. The one with people clinging to is being described as a security breach. There were 7 C-17 flights in/out of Kabul that day.page_verify wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 2:41 pmFinally, the C-17 that left with 600+ passengers, but which had several fall to their death, has been impounded while it's crew is being investigated.
