Post by slogen51 » Sat Aug 07, 2021 5:17 pm

Hi

Are there any RCAF CF-188 in Europe at the moment, perhaps in Romania?

Thanks
Mike

Posted on Twitter a few days ago ”There’s a rumour that the Royal Canadian Air Force will be visiting @EGXWinfo for the week of 23rd-27th August with a number of F-18’s and a support aircraft. After discussion with @sentrypost they will be providing volunteer marshals & asking people to view from safe locations”

RAF Waddington hedge:-

It would be most helpful if that hedge is trimmed in good time. There is then no need to congregate at the gate / barrier further up, as was the case with the Sentries coming back. It is a win-win situation for both sides if that hedge is trimmed for events and movements of significance.

RCAF had 72 CF-18As and 31 CF-18Bs in inventory as of November 2008. 79 in operational use.

Edit plus these

12 F/A-18A and six two-seat F/A-18B Hornets EX RAAF

Hopefully any deployment, if confirmed, will include some ex-RAAF examples

Further reading suggests they are having difficulty integrating into the fleet as the current fleet management plan involves a limited number of airframes for a capability improvement
Only three ex- RAAF examples flying by end of 2020 and with radar/avionics upgrades for just 36 selected examples the work is scheduled through to 2025

RAF don't "have" to do anything, in fact they really don't give a toss about you, or your requirements.

Don't think the word "have" you quote appeared anywhere, but at least you got the chance to jump in and be unpleasant, which is I guess the main thing.

I don't believe this is an exercise, I think they are just transitting through.

Could be wrong though!
