Seemed to head SE after SHAW as if for a 27 landing , but now looking more like a zero nine.
Re: Notam 20/07/21
Will be a visual landing on 27

)

Re: Notam 20/07/21
last comms I heard was for RWY 27
Re: Notam 20/07/21
That's the one yeah, did a left hand approach into Fairford for a change. There were loads of gliders around earlier, perhaps avoiding them at a guesszero_gravity wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 3:32 pmThanks , so I am assuming he went past the end of 09 and round the long way. Landed at approx 16:32 by the way, unsurprisingly, no ice on the wings today

Brrilliant , thanks for that , I can only see his tracking on PP , but good to have confirmation that the track was correct.
Those pesky gliders were all over the place , in a line almost from SW to NE. After a long flight the last thing he wants is to spend extra time going round to the south of the field to make an approach back onto 27 !

Re: Notam 20/07/21
Looking back , as BLACK01 crossed the east coast inbound there were 20-30 gliders milling around north of Fairford.
Do they not look at NOTAMS ? ...or perhaps assumed as this mornings NOTAM had been taken down , they were safe to play in that area.

Re: Notam 20/07/21
Just listened back to check and Brize Director was warning him of Gliders 'between his current position' and Fairford at around 16:14 and offered to direct him to the South West of the field avoiding the majority of the gliders, so that'd be the reason for the strange track inbound! Not sure on the position of the gliders and whether they would have realised but your Plane Plotter track probably will show that!
