Sorry old-timer but exactly what old crowd do you expect to come out of the woodwork?

I would imagine many of the spotters from the 70's and 80's who have had little to look at for many years at St Mawgan.
There were regulars from all over Cornwall and a few from further affield most of which I haven't seen in years, partly because as my alias on here suggests I haven't been as active myself since the base lost it's military aircraft and life generally got in the way.

Indeed it has recently changed but it was always 3/1, 1/3 when the military flew here regularly. But some are probably too young to remember that.

Your runway designation formats should be 30/12 or 31/13. I have never seen them portrayed in the way you have.

I'm sure you are correct. It's just the way it was referred to phonetically if that's the correct term here and written to mimic that as opposed to thirteen and thirty one.

Hi all,

I don't wish to put a 'dampener' on things, but Devon & Cornwall Police are all over the local news media down here and spreading the 'don't go near it' message with regard to going anywhere near St.Mawgan/NQY. Knowing the local geography as I do, it will be very easy to close off vantage points at each end to the runway and move on anyone stopping in a lay-by.
Just food for thought if anyone was considering a long trip.

Biden is visiting London before the G7 so I imagine Stansted/Northolt/Mildenhall will have a slice of the action too. A USAF C-17 has already gone into Stansted late last night. Maybe certain assets will be positioned a little earlier to allow staff to quarantine.

5000 extra police are being drafted in from across the country along with other assets to ensure things run smoothly. Some of this is to control the protest element planning to make themselves heard. There will be a sizeable presence around the airfield though.

The area around Trebuddnon is outside the exclusion zone and offers the best opportunity for arrivals assuning they land on 31 ( which is the prevailing runway).

If they come in over the sea that is more problematic.

JASDF Boeing 777 80-1111 is due into Newquay on Tuesday morning as JF701 direct from Chitose.



For any dotters, it is planned to route down the North Sea, making landfall in the Clacton area, before proceeding south Westward over London.
