Laughlin AFB Open House, May 2008

This was an unexpected bonus on a tour of Texas & the Southern States back in May 2008. It was a surprise for us, because in the week before we arrived in the US there was a tragic accident at Sheppard when a T-38 crashed killing the instructor and student. Consequently Sheppard was locked down and all the Talons were grounded pending the ensuing inquest. So after being tipped off by a local spotter and some last minute rearranging we managed to squeeze in the morning there (and I finally got to see some Talons).

After leaving Laughlin we then headed West on a very long drive heading for the state line to Louisiana (for the Barksdale Open House the following day). But still in Texas we had a brief stop to see these gems (embarrassingly I've forgot the name of the place ). And then was accosted by a very irate (very ugly uniformed security woman or was it a bloke?) Didn't stick around to argue as she pulled a gun out on us, never had that happen before
