No parking on roadside

Post by ST24 » Fri Sep 11, 2020 8:51 am

Cops have just moved all cars parked on the side of the road, pull in to forest track still okay. Apparently its an urban clearway and they're saying that and the fact there have been a few near misses recently (lorries mentioned) is why they're enforcibg it now.

Highways Agency have been talking to Mod police this morning at the Lakenheath viewing area, it's possible they are looking at restricted parking along the verges and the forest entrance, Highways are there now monitoring how many people arrive at the Viewing area

The A1122 does not pass Lakenheath.

Alright, alright!! :)

Thanks for the info update.

When browsing via the smartphone the subject line does not mention the airfield to be fair :pop:

(I can see now on my pc that it is in the Serials and etc < East Anglia < RAF Lakenheath subsection)

correct - this refers to Lakenheath, (the A1122 is at Marham). There were cars parked on every conceivable bit of grass (and some where conception would be positively dangerous) yesterday right up towards Brandon and all round the traffic light junction so it's hardly surprising. I was out and about in remote locations until c. 5pm and it wasstill very busy on the access road to the viewing area then.

Will be fun today (not!)

Yeah, I was one of them! Up on the grass verge by the viewing area now and no problem. MOD police just drove up and went down the track but never spoke to anybody, not that there's many cars here anyway as its all quiet. It looks as if cloud has set in and nobody by EOR so will probably call it a wasted trip soon.

Thought they are night flying this week so nothing likely to happen before mid afternoon anyway?

Very cryptic response as usual... They were up earlier than 12 yesterday so I thought they may well be today too. It seems people often have info on here but don’t share it!

Maybe a reference to today's date might have an effect on flying today

Hi TORNADO-GR4

From my experience on Wednesday just a few Eagle movements around 12 noon... then it was 2.30pm when afew F16s and Eagles came out to play and then it all kicked off at about 4pm with Eagles and F16s which all recovered between 5.30pm and 6pm.

Hope you have a good day.

Thanks for the info. I caught the 15’s and 16’s recovering Tuesday afternoon, and watched the 15’s depart and recover midday Wednesday. Also caught both types departing on ‘Night Ops’ Wednesday evening. Was hoping to catch a bit of action before heading back home to Benson!

(Well aware of the date but have seen aircraft departing Mildenhall this morning)
