Lakenheath next week!

Post by iduxbury » Wed Aug 26, 2020 4:34 pm

I'm planning on going to Lakenheath either Tuesday or Thursday next week. Any advise on which day would be better?

TIA

Ian

I’m down for a few days next week, does this mean there’ll be no flying on Friday?

Cheers and TIA

It's Labor day on the 7th September, I guess they're having a long weekend?

Friday is rarely a 'good day' for seeing the locals. POETS day as it is everywhere.

Hi all unfortunately my only day off is Bank Holiday Monday. As always the RAF will be in the Officers Mess but is there a possibility Lakenheath will still be active?

Best Regards

The RAF will be at home - the messes I've been in at weekends/bank holidays have been empty haha

The US normally observe UK Bank holidays and don't operate, unless theres an operational need for something to go up, which may be the case at Mildenhall.

Thanks Mike it's 130 miles each way so a long way to see nothing move lol. I'm in Wales from next Friday so may chance the loop mid week.

I take it they won't be coming out to play then (Mon 7th)? :(

I highly doubt it sorry roughcutter, unless there's an op requirement. Check the notams end of next week.

Good day out today at Lakenheath. Thanks for the advise everyone. Shout out to Dave934. Nice to meet you Dave, was a bit of a laugh except for the second to last F15 who nearly blew our eardrums out. :P

My first visit to Lakenheath next week, either Tuesday or Thursday, not sure yet. I'm staying in Cambridgeshire (supposed to be doing a flying and tank driving experience at Duxford but it's been cancelled) so making a day out of it. Not a photographer , just a an aviation enthusiast, so only doing the park and view bit which I have located on Google earth......can't wait!
