FFD not suitable for RC ops because of hills in the runway  What about heavily laden bombing missions by Buffs over the years!

The 351st ARS loved the extra fuel load Fairford's runway allowed their KC-135Rs with the big engines to carry when they all deployed to Fairford for several months in 2004 while Mildenhall's runway was being resurfaced......

Not sure that the bomber guys would like their aprons and taxyways being full of KC-135S, when trying maneuver a B52 around?

There is loads of room at Fairford for tankers and bombers look what happened in 2003 etc

I was unable to attend last nights meeting, I’m still waiting to hear what was said.

So, by inference, the tanker guys would like a longer runway at Mildenhall?

God this is so dull. The Vulcan, (and the other poorly informed Fairford commentator) could you stop posting this ill informed hearsay as fact and learn to detect conjecture, misinformation or rumour. It does nothing for the credibility of the site.

No one minds you posting FACT thevulcan

However conjecture and rumour are not appreciated.

The meeting did take place. The residents were told there will be an increase in flying activity, but not as much as they thought. Also bomber deployment in September. RC135 flights approx 3x per week.

Indeed. Especially when it involves people’s livelihoods.

I take the RC-135 bit to mean an increase in KC-135 flights for Pilot/Air Traffic Controller currency. They've been doing pattern work, on and off, for months.
