Good news another airframe saved. No crowd fund required I assume as GJD are carrying out the move?

I think so. Being 1940s AVRO I assume a bit easier to break down and move.

I think the team that have done the work on it at Bruntingthorpe deserve a huge pat on the back though; she’s looking so much better following their hard work.

With positive action being taken by several aircraft owners to relocate aircraft from Bruntingthorpe believe now would be a good time to review exactly who owns what. The list below is taken from UK Demobbed.

WP845 Chipmunk T10 PAX
WR974 Shackleton MR3 Preserved (noted as being moved by GJD to StAthan

ZE705 TriStar C2 705, N703CS W.f.u.

ZF595 Lightning T55 Cockpit Private

Time is now to assess what can be moved and what should be saved, to within a safe location at Bruntingthorpe.
This is not meant to be a doom laden message, just a common sense approach to how groups can work together to achieve the best out come.

The list on UK demobbed did not identify taxiable condition, so only added those which I knew were in running condition, agreed that some Hunters, JP's and other "light up". Also not on the list is the Guppy and several other scrappy airliners.
The intent was just to raise awareness of the other less know aircraft such as the Hunter, Jaguar, Jet Provost, Gnat, Sea Vixen which need to be relocated or placed in safe storage until their future can be secured.

Sorry Doughnut didn't mean to come across in that way. I completely agree that as many of the rarer types need to be preserved especially the runners as otherwise a lot of hard work and effort goes to waste.

A quick VC10 update:
Some VC10 Preservation Group representatives are working as part of a coordinated wider team to explore future options for ZD241 and ZA147, and save at least one airframe. More information will follow in due course. This will include any independent fundraising campaign (we ask that our generous supporters withhold their donations until this is decided).

Remember that four of the seven aircraft mentioned are only noses / cockpits

Ah that explains it! It would be nice to see seven complete Lightnings obviously, but I'd be content with just one preserved and running example of this great piece of Cold War history.

I believe the Sea King is now at the Aeropark at East Midlands Airport, but I may be wrong.

If only one VC-10 is saved I really hope it is ZD241. It was the first aircraft I ever flew on way back in 1977, from Manchester to Montreal, when it was in British Airways service. :)

Would be nice to see ZD241 At Kemble they would certainly get a lot more help with preservation of the aircraft with Brize about an hour away. Not to mention the nearby Railway station in Kemble Village.

Kemble sounds promising and used to have a thriving historic and vintage jet community, be good to see it re-established. But I do recall, not that long ago, the owners were openly pushing it forwards for inclusion in the local development plan, for housing.

It was knocked back, but I'd be keen to know what's changed, and what assurances the various groups have been given about Kembles long term future?
