Yesterday the U2 showed up RTB on ADSBexchange, but not tonight, was it an anomaly?
I've been watching and listening for months, finally got an OTT sighting yesterday but I thought it was odd he was visible on ADSBexchange.

They do show up on ADSB occasionally - more often though they don't

Sometimes they have their Mode-S transmitter on, sometimes not. It is rare to see, no idea why they do when they do.

Interesting. NOTAM looks to have been taken down.

It was due to stay over last night as well but was scrubbed due to wind, last I heard both stay overs had been cancelled but the herc is now up dropping so might be back on.

I'm sure there's a reason, just odd it would nightstop at FFD given Brize is so close!

An interesting feature about yesterday's flight is that it didn't use Mode A/C until it passed 40K on the outbound leg.

On return , it didn't use Mode A/c at all until very near the airfield.

May I ask what you're using to pick up Mode A/c please? I get ground ADSB at FFD from where I am, but havent been picking up anything at all using Dump1090 with the mode a/c switch enabled. Many thanks.

When you say "it didn't use" do you actually mean "I didn't pick up"?

I'd be surprised it it didn't use A/C and Swanwick Mil were happy to work off a primary radar return only...

Mode A/C was not " picked " up anywhere across the UK on its return flight.
I'm not aware that the frequency/mode can be changed , but maybe they relied on IFF and codes based on yesterday's Euro card tactical codes mode 1,2 and 3 ?
