That 43 Sqn Phantom, every time I pass it at the Airshow I always promise myself I'll get a picture of it but guess what always forget. Is that a picture of Black Mike actually in a HAS at Treble One?

Great topic! Got a fair bit to contribute as I got bored the other week and re-edit quite a few Phantom snaps.

Kicking off with the Germans in the gloom at Waddo '09..

A sporty departure from the F-4F pair at RIAT '07..

The F-4F from WTD61 at Coningsby last year..

And finishing the German contingent with a departure from this year's RIAT..
Image

One of the TuAF pair arriving at RIAT '06..

And the other one departing..

Finishing on a Hellenic example heading home after RIAT '09..

Hope to see the Phantom back in the UK next year!

Just remembered that I have these, 21 July 79 and the Coningsby Air Day, 'rescued' from 35mm slides.

Oh .. The days before we went “smokeless” :D I remember when I used to spend hours as a kid looking out for the Phantoms when they were based at Lakenheath. We’d just have to keep an eye on the horizon for the give-away black plumes of smoke. Used to love the spooky ghost-like howl of the engines in the distance (No doubt where the very appropriate name originated). Nice to see a lot of these ol’ clips. Thanks to everyone who’s contributed, .. VG
