The Collectors: Us and British Cold War Aerial Intelligence Gathering

and

Wolfgang Samuel -
Silent Warriors, Incredible Courage: The Declassified Stories of Cold War Reconnaissance Flights and the Men Who Flew Them

and can tell me if they are a good read?

Big cat diary written by Wing commander John Sullivan,interesting read on 6 squadron and there final year at Coningsby.

Another book about the Vulcan came out last month called The Avro Vulcan. I'm sorry to say from what I read about it this has been done before and about 50 times over, with the history and development and black & white photos etc. If someone else is looking to bring a book out about the Vulcan in the future I just hope they will do it from a different approach. Maybe just concentrate on the 70's and its days in that era, rather than keep going over the same old ground!!

Thanks Roughcutter. As it happens I found a copy in Swansea "Works" on Thursday. For those interested they also had copies of Victors Boys (only 1), Meteor Boys, Valiant Boys, Vulcan Boys, Tornado Boys and Phantom Boys.

It's not the store in the town centre but the one on the Fforestfach retail park for anyone wanting any of those editions

Rather enjoying the "Boys" series of books from Grub Street (the ones that The Works are selling for £6 in store & online).

They seem to fluctuate in on what they have in but managed to get a few.

Meteor Boys was interesting, most notably for me the use of the aircraft (I won't say anymore though as I won't spoil it).

It certainly gets my "seal of approval" and think it would make a great Christmas present for anyone interested in the history of SAC in the UK. Can't be unbiased as I did contribute a little to it but as this has been my specialist subject for over 5 decades I'd give it 99 out of 100. Got lots of great photo's to drool over!

Thanks Graham. Have put it on list of presents that my wife can give me at Christmas - putting a new camera on it as well might be a bit problematical . . . . but could be worth a try!

Can anyone recommend a good book on the F-104 Starfighter? I've trawled through amazon and there's quite a few titles. Ideally I'm looking for a general introduction/overall history of the aircraft but am happily open to more detailed or specific studies. So what book(s) should I buy?
