Current RAF aircraft
Re: Current RAF aircraft
Blackjack56,
You stated you were not sure why this subject had gone political and then directed it towards an attack against the good old US of A, which some may call racist in tone. However, I will ask again what British designed and manufactured aircraft would you like to see the UK military using?

100+ Typhoon, Atlas, Puma, Prefect, Tutor, Airbus Helicopters training types so not quite predominantly and not forgetting BAES and the UK is a tier 1 partner on F35 and manufactures part of every one made.Blackjack56 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 10:00 amI'm not quite sure how this thread has got so political, after all we're a group of like minded people with a shared love of military aviation, one thing's for sure though as C24 says our once proud airforce is slowly turning into a tiny force armed with predominantly american types with all the cost implications that has, after all the so called"special relationship"is all about the good ol' american Dollar and at the end of the day we are a client state of the american empire.rant over,i'll put my soapbox back in the cupboard now !.
Also, I can't understand the need to have (amongst the spotter community) a "Made In Britain" sticker on it. Each and every pilot wants the best equipment for the job, and given the expense of design and development today, that can only be through an international partnership. Capability more than outweighs "Made in Britain".

Americans are not a race, they're a nation with multiple ethnicities all of them immigrants. So don't pull the rascism card, that's only for the Israelis, lol!!100arw wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 11:11 amBlackjack56,

Hear hear. Look at all those pesky American P-8s and E-7s for a start. How ridiculous we invest in a well invested capability that will bring much interoperability with coalition partners, let alone be based on the most popular airframe design of the last 50 years!Agent K wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 6:50 am100+ Typhoon, Atlas, Puma, Prefect, Tutor, Voyager, Airbus Helicopters training types so not quite predominantly and not forgetting BAES and the UK is a tier 1 partner on F35 and manufactures part of every one made.Agent K wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 6:48 amBlackjack56 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 10:00 amI'm not quite sure how this thread has got so political, after all we're a group of like minded people with a shared love of military aviation, one thing's for sure though as C24 says our once proud airforce is slowly turning into a tiny force armed with predominantly american types with all the cost implications that has, after all the so called"special relationship"is all about the good ol' american Dollar and at the end of the day we are a client state of the american empire.rant over,i'll put my soapbox back in the cupboard now !.

Far better have some bespoke stuff from Preston and $3gazillion each and no worldwide spares and supply chain.

"Made in Britain" ?
Umm
The display Typhoon could be adorned with little labels on the various bits of the aircraft. Certainly worth a snap or two at RIAT
